HI Fiona

Just Finished reading Bridge of Souls and loved it.

Do have one niggle with it though if i may be presumptious.

I felt that the ending was ,a bit if not rushed then abrupt, it could be that haveing been so enthralled with the series i did not want it to end. Having said that i would like to congratulate you on a fantastic story. Great characters and a brilliant story. Looking forward to read the rest of your books when published here in blighty.

Keep up the good work!!

Thanks so much - glad you enjoyed it, Marta. I think, in all honesty, a fantasy trilogy has so much scope over three books that there is some sort of manic rush at the end because this is the culmination of a half million word tale. A lot is happening at the end of every fantasy story as all the threads over the tapestry of three big books tie back into one main story. I think it's hard to avoid, particularly for a writer like me whose books do clip along at a rather swift pace. Personally I think it HAS to speed up to satisfy the breathless nature of the climax. That said, looking at the book I've just finished - Emissary - even I am scratching my head. Considering the deliberate sedate pace I've achieved in this story the somehow the last couple of chapters see all hell break loose. Because I write to no plan I don't know what's coming so it's always a surprise for me but I'm sitting here a little gobsmacked at how much has happened in such a short time. I must have a serial streak in me to make a mad charge for the end. I'm a sprinter in life - not a runner as such - but just one of those people who doesn't know how to take anything slowly (other than bathing!) so perhaps you've also nailed me on a character trait! I think you're going to find exactly the same pattern in Percheron. But thank you again for giving my books a go and for enjoying The Quickening. i gather the next book to hit the Old Dart will be Betrayal - my first ever attempt at a novel and the publishers are bringing out that trilogy (Trinity) over three months so no long wait between reads. Enjoy!
