Hello all from a newbie!!

I've been a fan of fantasy for years, starting with David Edding's seies The Belgariad, and working right through to The Redemption Of Althalus. However, I've since read and been hooked on The Trinity series, and a friend of mine suggested I join Fiona's board, so here I am!

I live in Whyalla, about 400 k's from Adelaide, and work in the local steelworks. I hope to catch up with you all soon, and I can tell you more about me. Cheers!

I have read all of Eddings books but I'm much too polite to say what I really think of Althalus when there are ladies present.

Hello Sparhawk.

I am an South Aussie as well, just a little closure to the city.

I have never read past The Mallorean, I have tried several times but I always wind up back with The Belgariad. I did read Polgara and Belgarth and thought they were excellent, but have been hesitant to read his other works.

Night,
Coffee.

PS - what is behind the door???

thanks for your welcomes ppls, it makes me feel right at home. if you can't get past the Mallorean, coffee, try 'The Redemption of Althalus'. It's a great story in it's own right, and I think you'll enjoy it immensly.

And now to my question - what really IS behind that door?

Salutations Sparhawk! Just love the name. Now I should come clean about here and admit that I have never read any David Eddings but I will as I know most people love his work. Another South Aussie - wow! No chance you're a Crows fan Sparhawk is there? Just thought I'd check as we head towards that time again.

Anyway, you have just tapped into the world's very best gang of fantasy lovers and I hope you'll enjoy being amongst them as much as I do. Sorry it took so long to get here - do you know I have to give my name, password and retitle every post I make. Is this the same for everyone because I never had to do this before? Crusie, help!!!!

Thanks for reading Trinity too, Sparhawk. Tell everyone at the Steelworks they have to read it (grin)....glad to have you aboard. F

Welcome to the Heartwood, Sparhawk From Elenia. Sit down, enjoy a white russian and tell us about yourself. Hopefully the Oracle will deign to grace us with her presence but until that time, let's party like it's on sale for $19.95 (the party will continue after Fiona gets here but anyway...)

Ah, another fan of Althalaus. :green I on the other hand, haven't read any of David Edding's other books so I can't comment on them.

Notice how the big door is mentioned and Princess appears? That's all I'm going to say on that at the moment:hush

I've been dead for a while now, so far I don't like it...

I'm not sure I catch your entire meaning, DM, since the Belgariad and Trinity are by two different authors. Edding's 6-book series The Belgariad was followed by another succesful series, The Mallorean, using the same setting and characters. There were also two spin off books released ; Belgarath The Sorcerer, and Polgara The Sorceress. If you haven't read these, you need to, because they are what hooked me on fantasy in the first place. Hint: this includes you, Fiona!

Sparhawk, what I meant was what else have you read...between Eddings and McIntosh. (A nice place to start and a great place to end-up, by the way.)

Ahhh, sorry DM, now I'm with you.

Inbetween Eddings and Fiona, I've read the works of many different authors. My bookcase contains all six books of Tracii Harding's Ancient Future series, for example. I absolutely adore Clive Cussler's tales of undersea action featuring his long time hero, Dirk Pitt. I also have enjoyed reading several of John J. Nance's airborne thrillers, including Pandora's Box.

My other favourite authors include Wilbur Smith, James Patterson, John Grisham, William Diehl, Robin Cook, and many others.

Sayonara.
