The burgers a totally gross true, thats why I don't eat them. I eat the chips and the chicken nuggets. Chips are chips you can't really screw them up and the fake-chicken-substitute isn't that bad, at least it actually looks like chicken, not like the 'beef' patties and the 'mcfish'.

I am deliberately not reading most of the threads in here, in case I get any spoilers, so please accept my apologies if my thoughts seem repetitive.

I have just finished Betrayal (slow reader!) and I must admit that the first thought that keeps coming into my head is not about the characters, but rather the aspect of sentience. I can't help thinking of the similarity to the internet, in some strange way. The way they can cast out their thoughts, have private chats to friends, can block people etc. But mainly how it is used to bring like-minded people closer together.

I liked the forest very much, and the power associated with it. Perhaps it could have done with a few more creepy crawlies in it, but I can live with that.

Everyone was correct about the fast paced action. The characters worked well, although I was hoping that this magnificent Tor fellow might at least wake up one morning with a pimple or some other affliction. <img src=">

Now I've got to find where I stashed away the second book!

Ah but hero's don't get pimples, or any other afflection, otherwise they wouldn't be heros!<img src=">

I never caught the similarities between a chat room and the casting the sentients do. But now you've pointed it out, I've got this mental image of Tor and the others all sitting at various computers and 'casting' to each other.:lol

Axon,

Interesting analogy.... I love the idea of being so close to people that you can be a part of their thoughts... apeals to the romantic within me.....

and as for creepy crawlies.... have you ever thought of writing or at least researching for authors?

:rollin , LTW! I can see Tor at the computer too, now, but not before. I think every minute the question:
"What is this?" or "How does this work" or "Curse this ungodly piece of apparatis!"

*Laughs* Yes, and then there is the evil God, Bill Gates, just waiting behind the scenes for his chance to rule the world. <img src=">

Princess, you are right about the value of people connecting with their thoughts and feelings. I guess that is part of the appeal of the series so far. Only the 'good' people are connecting in such a way. The ones with evil intent are left in darkness.

Hmm, and your job descriptions do sound perfect actually.

What do mean waiting? He already rules the world, just because he doesn't do it openly...*LTW walks off in to the distance muttering*

The EVIL god Bill Gates ???

Whether he actually rules the world or not...last time I checked he wasn't gassing anyone or blowing anyone up or threatening to invade any countries.

Evil, eh? Must mean something different to you guys. <img src=">

Obviously DN, you haven't encountered the ultimate weapon:
Microsoft Windows!
It confuses almost everyone!
It sends them in to a homcidial rage when the pc crashes for the millionth time!
And it turns them in to zombies who can't string a two word sentence together coherently.

Now you see why Bill Gates is an evil god, his empire turns people in to confused, homcidial zombies who can't speak coherently!

Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day.
But,
Teach a man to fish and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer all day.
But,
Show him how to use the net and he'll bugger-off and never bother you again.

Really appreciated reading your comments and I think I've learned a valuable lesson now that I'm onto my fifth novel that the hero doesn't have to be entirely perfect. Having said that, Tor lets Alyssa down badly - several times in fact - so perhaps that is his flaw although it could also be youth!

Loved the Net comparison - very clever.

And all you poor souls on PCs, you really should see the light and use Mac (grin).
