...I agree with Tor and Alyssa, but not as forcefully. That's like the whole Merlin/Arthur thing again...

I personally think that Alyssa was a bit ... overzealous.... in her condemnation of Lys .... granted she had reason to not particularly be fond of her... but she showed a lack of understanding of Lys' position.... considering that she knew a lot of the facts of the case.. re Orlac and how he came to be there etc
She had more reason to dislike Merkud and her own father... after all, Merkud is the one who took Tor away from her. I don't see any reason why Merkud could not have taken Alyssa with them.... considering the circumstances. And her father didn't have to descend into an alcoholic stupor after her mother died.... that is his own doing, not Lys's.

also bare in mind that Lys never visited Alyssa, and that might of been part of why she was so overzelous....
Tor knew how Omnipotent (spelt wrong) Lys was and when he felt her power i think he was more understanding with her messing with their lives...
on the other hand Alyssa never had that meeting so to her it was like some distant stranger manipulating their lives...

I tend to do that cb1. Sit there reading a book and watching the character make a bad decision, while I'm jumping up and down in my seat muttering 'Don't do that, you're doing what the bad guys want'. Then a little while later I remember that another character knew not to do that and also realise that a train carriage full of people are now wondering where that loony with his book is.

I haven't seen the Bone Collecter, my mother however rants at me about it. She's in to crime thriller books and movies. Myself, I prefered Se7en with Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.

That makes two of us, LTW. I haven't seen the Bone Collector either, though my dad's got the DVD. I liked Mission Impossible II though.
