Actually I am not normally woried about events in previous serials... but the mention of Lauryn and Gyl in the new series would add interest to me.. and it begins to build the world... we know so much...
I for one vote for the inclusion.... I think it will add not subtract form the story.

It's at the publisher at the moment being considered (gulp - no guarantees folks). So when and indeed if I get the green light I'll take another look at that passage and see if I can't work it back in.
I'm not sure I can explain why Sonya hated it but she was very firm, very determined that it really impacted on her negatively that I was throwing back to the old story. She wanted no reminders of Trinity. I'm a bit of the comfy old boots type of person so I personally like the link up but she's the opposite obviously. She adored Trinity, likes Myrren a lot more and so just wants to concentrate on Wyl, Celimus, Valentyna, Cailech, Fynch, Knave etc and not have previously enjoyed characters push into the action. That's the best way I can explain it although I'm sure she'd give a better account for her attitude.

It's a tough one.
I guess if we're slap bang in the middle of a new adventure with exciting new heroes and villains that we may not care about Gil et al at that moment?
I've got a foot in each camp here. I like a bit of sentimental reference to a past favourite, but I also like to get on with what's happening and forget about anything else. Give me the action!
I'm sure it will work just fine either way

I'm in the include camp.
A mention early on in the story gives you a time reference to a known event from the earlier tale and so helps to establish the setting for the current story.
Also if its set in the same world, and a place geographically close to the previous story, then it makes sense to include mention of an important event even if only in passing.

I think there is definetly room for more books in the trinity series. I could not put these books down, they were the best that i have ever read. In fact i never use to read and as soon as i found these books by accident, i was reading at every spare moment i had. Now i am finished i am goin insane waiting for your new trilogy.
Anyways it occured to me that this series would make great films i even had pictures in my head of how they would be. Thanks for a great read Fiona

Having just read the series again I am definitely in the mood for more. Stil, the tale ends so neatly, I feel it might be cheapened a bit if Tor and Alyssa had to come back again and save the day. Thumbs up for cameo roles in other series though, that's always a nice touch

">
But what I'd really really love to read, would be a prequel series. Though we sort of know the history of Orlac, Merkhud and Sorrel, there are plenty of gaps to fill. I'd be especially interested in hearing the tale of the Paladin though

">
All that aside, I'd hafta say write what you wanna write Fiona, we'll all love reading it!

I think you should include the reference as well Fiona, as long as the old characters don't take over the story then it doesn't bother me.
I know this has already been explained but when is the first book due out?

i would love to see the three children and there lives as grown ups....they would have to have a new challange, some new bad guy/girls and a definate risk to the world...

">
i would also like them to reunite with thier parents, i mean the three of them are 3/4 gods so they are most likely immortal and we only got to see a little of their powers, Fiona you could make them do anything.....
maybe you could write about their lives with thier partners etc and then they have to leave all their love ones as a sacrafice to save the world....yadda yadda yadda ...
ya get my drift......
anyway i love reading about past characters in books, to me it adds to the realty of it all, as im reading i go, hey i know you, and i feel more comfortable...
my advice is write what you want to write, its your books and we love your writing and your ideas not someone elses..
remember you were born with the gift to write, go with your instincts

now get busy creating...
I love being able to write and talk to one of my fav Authors its SO cool

I'm in total agreement there with you Jess. And if Fiona wants to write about Talinor and the other countries again, but can't think of a villian then she has Xantia to go back to.

That's a good point Fiona, but Cloot was too high up when he was shot for Dorgy to take over someone else, wasn't he?

There's a reference to him being taken to a desolate presion (or somehting).. and we are talking about a guy who escaped the bleak.
He is probably biding his time, creating weapons of mass destruction for his campaign of terror!

Well I think there are many issues that could be followed up - and there have already been some excellent possiblites suggested.
For me - the whole issue of baby Tor and adult Alyssa is an interesting one. Can teenage Tor and older Alyssa make a connection? When is Tor "old enough" for Alyssa? This would make a great running sub pot to a new adventure.
As others have suggested - the mystery of the Heartwood holds many possibilities for exploration. Why does Darmud Coril exist in the Heartland - while other gods are restricted to the glade? There's a possible story line.
Also the Palladin themselves. The final showdown was mostly focused upon Tor and Orlac, which leaves space for the Palladin to perform a different task in the absence of Tor and Alyssa - or perhaps in preparation for their return.
Lots of possibilities me thinks. Definitely like the suggestion of Xantia causing havoc. I can see her returning to Caremboche and taking over the school or subverting its purpose to train a host of dark sisters, with Cyrus leading the charge to restore it.
So many directions to go in, IMO definitely worth returning to when the time is right.
cheers,
Darren.
