Don't be too worried. I read the ending and I didn't cry - not even one tear.
But then again, I read the ending without having read any of the rest of the book (which I'm only about half way through now) so perhaps I am not in the best position comment.
Didn't get much read yesterday. My son, Lachlan, was three yesterday so there was no way I was going to get any time to myself. Is there anthing more exciting than a three year olds birthday party?

I bawled!!! And I hated Fiona for about half an hour, but lying in bed and thinking about it, I realised it was the perfect, well, the ONLY ending it could have had.
I shan't say much more until more folks have finished it, expect... take a bow, ma'am. You deserve it.

edit - warning... just in case.

Actually I like the one year old birthdays because the birthday girl or boy goes to bed soon enough leaving a pile of adults with silly hats and lots of goodies to eat not to mention toys to play with. My sort of fun!

I think the ending's quirky enough that you won't pick it, Snowy. I think I know the bit Lisa's referring to and I don't doubt you'll know it too as soon as you hit it. Anyway, flu is miserable - take lots of honey and lemon, loads of water, plenty of rest. Read heaps! A big get well yell from all of us at the Board.

p.s. would like to have sent you a row of those pinky jumping things but don't know how!

Ahh don't tell me that - now I have an inclin of what may happy seeing I'm already 3 quarters of the way thru it, almost near the end, but having the flu doesn't help matters

I was really good, because I'd read in class and on the train (in public) so I didn't cry.
But I got home, and read the last few chapters. As soon as I stopped crying, I'd start again. But I couldn't put it down.
Yes, I found the ending sad indeed. But it was still done wonderfully!

lol, Im still sniffling!!

Well the day is over and I've finally finished the end of the book and yes I understand what Lisa is saying very clearly now, I still can't stop thinking about it, and the problem is that it left me with mixed emotions.
I felt anger yet, sadness it was very confusing and even now I can't believe it, and yes it was practical and as lisa said, is was the only real ending I would have like - dispite how I felt about it. I don't think I would have liked it anyway to be honest.
I came outta my room crying and my mother asked me what was wrong, and BTW not knowing I was crying at the time said "I finished the book!!" I laugh now but still, it was worth all the wait to know the ending finally......
WELL DONE FIONA !!!!

P.s. Thanks for the get well everyone, stick with the honey and lemon and a few other things and I should be fine by the end of the week.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who blubbered like a baby.
Somehow, I don't think the boys will own up to shedding a tear or two.

Fiona,
I have closed my eyes rather than read this thread but feel compelled to say something

">
I find myself forcefully putting the book down and venturing back into the real world, as I wish to savour all the magic for as long as possible.... I promise to add my musings when it becomes overwhelmingly difficult to resist the power of the pages.......
For now, I am relishing every word and the images they create
