You're sweet FeeWebb to ask and it's lovely to hear from you. I think of you often.

Well, Myrren's Gift is complete in its first draft. As a matter of fact I am sending it off this weekend for the publisher to read for the first time so I need everyone out there crossing fingers and toes. There are never any guarantees in this business.

...and there is no doubt this is a very quirky sort of tale. I am taking a bit of a risk but the pace you've enjoyed previously is definitely there and characters to love and hate. I have really enjoyed the story as it has come alive - as you know I plan very little so how it eventuates is something of a mystery to me as much as a reader looking at it for the first tme.

At present I am writing a short story which I find excrutiatingly hard. It is called The Feast and I'm submitting it for potential inclusion in an anthology. In all honesty, I don' think I'm that good at short stories so I won't be surprised if it hits the "cutting room floor".

Once that story is written, I'm moving straight onto book two of The Quickening which is Blood and Memory. I will spend longer on this particular ms as the middle book in a trilogy tends to be the real meat to the story.

Assuming HarperCollins likes the story as much as it did the rough outline I sent, then we have a good shot at getting the book out by mid year 2003 probably. I will always push for sooner, I promise.

And then the three books will be on shelves by mid 2004.

So there's my life mapped out for the next couple of years by which time my sons will be almost 14 and much taller than me!

What are you reading at the moment?....hope all in the family are well.

Talk soon - F
