My mom just suggested I put on my Hawaiia outfit... Hmmm... Maybe I'll just get the leathers out. What do you think?

I first found out about Betrayal by seeing an article in my local Messenger about Fiona with her book. At the time I'd just started to read Fantasy, after being completely fed up with Oprah's recommendations! :flush

My Dad brought home one of the Betrayal bookmarks from a bookshop, and then my neighbour gave me one as well! (Ok, so I have a big mouth about the things I like to read! <img src="> ) I tried the library, and read the book in 2 days. I loved it!! I just wished that I could have read the 2nd book straight away. <img src=">

When I saw Revenge on the shelf earlier this year, I had to buy it, and not only that, but my own copy of Betrayal as well. I decided to keep them until Destiny came out so that I could read the trilogy straight through, besides the fact that I was trying to read the Clan of the Cave Bear series at the same time. <img src=">

I was incredibly excited when Destiny came out, and had to have my own copy. (Imagine someone jumping up and down in a book store...ahem..!) I've just re-read Betrayal and read Revenge in the last 2 weeks, and am 1/3 way through Destiny.

My favourite thing about all of the books was the "mind speak" that was going on. The idea just fascinated me. I read Robin Hobb's Assassin's Apprentice and Juliet Marillier's Daughter of the Forest at about the same time as Betrayal, and loved the fact that all of the books had mind speak in them!

I just wanted to say thanks for writing these books, Fiona. I read Betrayal when I was just getting into fantasy, and it certainly made me want to read more of this genre! It felt cool too knowing that you were in Adelaide and so was I! I just wish I knew about this website before your book signing! Never mind, the next time you do, I'll have 3 books ready and waiting. <img src=">

Hi Megan <img src=">

Thanks for joining us and for writing such a lovely long message. You know you'll have to survive a huge welcome now from all who lurk here regularly!

Go to it friends. :aqua

In the meantime, I'm chuffed. What a lovely way to end my very full day of writing to hear from a happy reader.

Betrayal, because it was my first book, was so much fun to write but the whole trilogy was - in spite of the hard work - a pleasure to craft and I tell you it sends tingles up and down my spine to hear from people like yourself who have given it a whirl and enjoyed it so much. I feel like I could press on and write through the whole night now!

Thank you. Thanks for reading it and then treating yourself to your own copies. I am really grateful and hope we can meet sometime soon so I can sign those books for you.

Come along to the next Fantasy Club Book Meet at Borders Bookstore in Rundle Mall, currently scheduled for October 7 but watch this space because that's a public holiday and may change. It's currently made up of great people from the board so you'll be amongst friends and fellow fantasy fans. I chair the gathering and we talk fantasy books. Otherwise, just hang here with the gang. They won't fail to give you suggestions of other great reads (a very knowledgeable and well read lot) and they're kind, supportive and fun.

If you like, email me at fiona@fionamcintosh.com with your address and let me send you a Destiny bookmark to go with the Betrayal one!

Thanks again - lovely to meet electronically for now...love the tag name and look forward to seeing you in person soon. Keep reading fantasy!

Welcome Megan

Always happy to see another Fiona devotee arrive, especially a fellow Adelaidian.

Have fun and ignore everything (OK not everything, but just about everything) that Crusie says. Everyone else does.

Well blow me down....we have another newbie.

Hi Megan,

Well welcome to the Heartwood, here are the forum rules. Just like the school dance the girls have to sit on that side of the room and the boys on this side. As a girl you need to peek demurely at the boys every once and a while, then flutter your eyelashes and turn away. The boys meanwhile will act all tuff with the other boys and push each other toward the girl side of the room to ask you to dance. Whatever you do don't say no, never refuse a boy a dance (its rude). When he slips his hand to low on your hips, slap him gently on the shoulder and tell him he is naughty (don't punch him in the nose as it detracts from his masculinity). At the end of the dance thank him nicely (even though he has nasty B O and halitosis) and walk swiftly back to your seat (and pray for a semi human to ask you next dance).

Oh and I forgot,,,,,Post well and prosper.....Oh and if you find out who swiped my medication please contact the relevant authorities.

Crusie

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Ribbon! :green :red :blue

Pull yourself a bean bag and come sit by me. Can I offer you a tequila, or a beer maybe...?

Check out the BB's book club for great reading suggestions - it's in the Bookworm section.

See you around! <img src=">

Welcome Megan. There's chocolates about for the person with the magic keyboard. Are you a writer? Ever thought about writing?

Anyway, have fun and see you around the posts.

Cheers,

Brad.

Welcome :dance

You will find Fiona's company on this board as engrosing as her books! An intelligent, warm, often witty but always caring lady.

She also attracts the most amazing and interesting people as well!

Pop yourself into a bean bag, relax and enjoy this delightfully crowded room <img src=">

Looking forward to meeting you at the next Border's night <img src=">

Hello, now you be careful with this bunch, they all sit around in bean bags and drink tequila, I at least, sit in a chair and drink cider, but we all agree that Fiona can write a fairly good book

It looks as if I need to invest in a bean bag! <img src="> No, I'm not a writer at all, although I have fiddled around a bit. I was always going to write my story, but it got too close to home, so I stopped. As it turns out, I'm a much better speaker than writer. <img src="> Always in demand at 21sts!

It's so cool to meet so many other people who love Betrayal as well. <img src="> Hopefully I can make it to Borders at some stage and catch up with you all. <img src="> Like I need *encouragement* to go to a bookstore! LOL <img src=">

Welcome Ribbon!!

Always glad to find another fan (Crusie, get another set of chains). We hope you stick around (soldier, clean off the Iron Maiden). You'll find we're really a pleasant bunch (SOMEONE keep Dragonemisis on his LEASH!). We love to chat and swill wine/tequela/cider/milk (Moo Juice) for the younger folks, so sit down (Princess, fire up the electric chair), put your feet up (the toe screws (lovely little variation on the classic thumb screw) please Slatz) and don't hesitate to (scream, yell, yoddle) join in the conversations!!

NO SOLDIER! NOT THE BAY CITY ROLLERS...for Gawd'sake man, even I couldn't condone such cruelty. (Unless, of course, you were doing it to Milander,)

G'day Ribbon. (From the Latin word meaning ribbon, which is from the Greek word meaning ribbon...pretty unimaginative bunch weren't they.)

Don't mind the rabble. Cruise is just annoyed because he's a dwarf. Snowy did something really bad in a past life and in this one she has to live in Melbourne, and Lisa's got a thing about bloody big sharks...work that out for yourself.

I am The Tequila Powered Poet-Warrior who protects The Land of Oz in the East. Any threats from that direction, that would be New Zealand I guess, should be reported immediately to me, myself or I...depending how you're feeling grammatically at the time.

You're already seated and you've already got some of my tequila, so tell us a joke or something...and just pointing at Soldier doesn't count.

BCR are out... not even me.. (kicked out of the gestapo for cruelty) could do that...

Ribbon comes form french (RUBAN) and old english (RIBBAN)... meaning Neck band or collar or ring circle......in German.

Maybe I should merely talk to Ribbon... the punishment is harsh... all we have to do is wait for the crime.

Don't mind them, Ribbon. :rolleyes They always do that when they want to impress a gal!

Come on, Milander, enough of that. Get your butt over here and sit in the bean bag! By the way, I just drank the rest of your tequila, since you left it unattended...
