Don't ask Fiona about maps. very risky.

She might have to admit that she only really did the map because the publisher wanted one not because she had ever used it herself.

Uh-oh, map people closing in...soon to discover that I'm actually not very good at geography even though I'm in travel (which way is America again - left or right?)

Which places specifically have I missed? You see I need this sort of help so I can fix when we re-print. Had thought we'd captured all the major places into the map.

At the top of my head, in the part of the book when Gyl gets coronated (between p. 180 and 200), you mention sovereigns from realms beyond Tallinor. My guess is that they are either to the south or east of the actual map in the book. I won't insist if you don't like maps, though. I was just curious...

Lucky me! Maybe you'll get lost and come to Quebec instead of Vancouver! Let me know: we'll do the rounds of "cabane à sucre" - that's where they make the maple syrup. <img src=">

Hello Fiona!

Is there a map of the world of Betrayal that could be posted on your website? The reason I'm asking is because Destiny is referencing to some other parts that we don't see on the original map, and I was wondering if you had worked it out somewhere in your notes...

Aha! Do you see cunningly edged right side of map? That attaches to a vast continent which is where I had planned Morgravia and Briavel would be - the major realms in The Quickening. But one draft reader became all twitchy when she realised what I was doing and wanted Tallinor to have no part to play in the story. You see in Myrren's Gift I had written in that two of the lead characters (as very young children) had met at Gyl's and Lauryn's wedding. But Sonya went all funny on me. <img src=">
Desperately didn't want it. I just rather liked the idea of keeping the whole thing in relatively familiar surrounds so I can spend even less time describing where we are. Anyone who has read and enjoyed Trinity will quickly recognise the terrain and fall back into the comfort zone. And it was perfect because the Rorky'el Mountains continued on to become The Razors where Cailech has his fortress.

Oh where was I? Did I answer your question, Manon? Yes, I deliberately left the right (that's east right?) side of Tallinor open to future stories. <img src=">

I knew it I knew it I knew it! :green

So... will you be able to leave The Quickening in the same setting? I gather Sonya is your draft reader? Let me talk to her... She'll come around! <img src=">

Autumn 2003 for this new book. This is torture, Fiona!

Personally, I liked the idea of them meeting at the wedding. I love putting little links like that into my own stuff...

What's this about Autumn 2003?? I thought this book was going to be out in six months, like the others.

Get them fingers typin' lady! I don't want to see you in here until that book is done and at the publishers!

First draft ready in about ooh a fortnight but life's not to simple anymore. With an agent, you direct everything via that office and suddenly everything takes twice as long.
