Thanks for a wonderful evening Fiona. It was really humbling to be amongst such a great bunch on people. To finally put some faces to names was good and perhaps we will have to have a BIG get together. I think it is only fair that everyone come over to Adelaide for it as it is in about the middle. How does everyone else feel.

I'm in but that's easy for me to say. Brad, CL and BB may find it tricky! What a lovely evening with a grand bunch. For all the gang beyond Adelaide, you have a wonderful troupe of people who hail from the southern central capital - all very down to earth and a lot of fun. I felt like we were family when they strolled in. Could have talked all night, of course but glad we were able to get into cars just before the rain came down.
Yes, let's do it again. Steve reckons a BBQ - sounds good to me.
Happy reading Obelixx, Princess, Big Hills. Soldier has read it so I'll look forward to hearing back from you when you get a chance.
Take care all and have a lovely weekend. Oh dear, I've just eaten a McDonalds and feel ill - once again am reminded why I don't eat much fast food!

Well, I will just have to attend in spirit. Perhaps someone could bring a digicam and post a few pics next time. It would be interesting to see faces.

Brad.
P.S. If anyone's curious, I do have a few pics on my website. It might not be working just yet in Australia as the site is quite new, but maybe try in a week or two. It's www.quillings.com. Cheers, all.

I am blushing! Truly, this is a lovely family at this Board and I am proud to know you all. It's funny what you say Obelixx because everytime Paul walked away I sold another book. His size is menacing isn't it? He's lovely though and very handy for crowd control (ha ha) - we certainly took over the front of the shop. Thanks hugely once again to the Adelaide branch for its fantastic support. Fx

Just to let everyone know what happened Friday night...
Everyone met up at the front of the shop where Fiona was seated with a mountain of books. In fact I nearly didn't see her behind all those books. Already present were Paul (Fiona's webmaster and proxy bodyguard to keep the hideously unruly fans at bay), Soldier and Bighills. I turned up with Princess (as we work for the same company) and had to fight our way through the crowds - which was really tough even considering my size. How Fiona never got writers cramp from signing so many books will always remain one of the great mysteries.
As we were all so much in awe of the Great Lady and people kept tripping over us as we prostrated ourselves in front of her we were quickly sent away to recompose ourselves. One menacing stare from Paul was enough to enlighten us not to return until we had regained some measure of self control.
We spent the time getting to know one another a bit better for all knew that once we were back with Fiona, we would be under her spell and all rational thought would disappear to be replaced by mindless drooling non-entities.
Fiona finally took pity on us and we all trooped down to a coffee shop for some light refreshments. Soldier had us in two straight lines with he and Fiona at the front with promises of guard duty all night for any that didn't keep in step. *damn - was that left, right, left or right, left, right. Luckily he was too busy talking to Fiona and didn't notice*
Fiona kindly bought us coffees with an extra one purchased for missing comrades.
All in all a good evening and we were thinking of you all and how fortunate we were to be living in the same city as this special person we all hold so dear.

Steve, ms. is coming along. I'm splitting time between Blood of Rushma and my new work (working title Captured in Crystal). I'm attempting to get the new ms. completed by end of September. We'll see how that goes.

Fiona,
It was wonderful to meet you, it has all been said before (rather eloquentally by my dear friend

"> but I shall add some observations of my own.....
Very few people have the ability to make those around them comfortable and warm in their presence.... partically on the first meeting. You have that, as well as enormous talent, wit and intelligence. It was both an honour and a privlidge to meet you

"> Along with everyone else here, I send heart felt congratulations and best wishes for your success in the US.
Five chapters were consumed with great relish on the bus trip home, then a few hours Saturday evening....Alas.. the real world intruded too often (dispite bolted doors and numerous growls !) As I am impatient to continue this magnificant journey, I shall bid you adieu, seek a thesouras (wow only works for so long!) and email soon.
sweet dreams all....
