Well it's all gone quiet here so thought I'd mention that HarperCollins is looking to change cover of Betrayal in the next print (later this year). Want it to look more edgy like Revenge and I wholeheartedly agree.

Can anyone drag their minds back to Betrayal ... got any thoughts on a good action scene?

p.s. get rid of the damn cat, Crusie! (did laugh when I spotted it, though)

ARGH!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! They can't change the cover! I hate it when cover art gets changed half way through a series. Makes my book shelf look all unorganised and stuff. They did it with the Gunslinger from Stephen King. I got books 1-3 in old covers, and now four onwards are going to be these new swishy, improved covers.... bummer.

But that little rant to the side... um.... actiony bit from Betrayal... maybe Cloot and Tor saving Cyrus in the Heartwood, when he's getting tortured. Or.... something from the very end, when the guys are trying to distract Goth from finding Alyssa... maybe with the Flames of the Firmament... I dunno.... :rolleyes

Yes, yes, yes....drifting off to sleep last night I ended with Cyrus in trouble with Tor and Cloot coming to help (trying not to be too specific here for spoilers). So there you are, great minds!

Sorry about cover change - think it's necessary though for the blokes. Too many guys other than our lovely Crusie, Chordy, Obelixxy, think it may be a bit soppy when they see the cover. Until they actually read it ..... got a wonderful email from a guy last night who was in the middle of Revenge and loving the tale even though he was hesitant at first to pick up Betrayal. Must fix.

*Waves his magic wand!*

There that cat is back where it belongs.

Now I am going back to where I belong, home to bed.

ps. you did deserve it though and you have to admit it's a cute cat.

Thanks FW. It's definitely an option and as you say, steer away from the exceptionally nasty bit.

understand why you'd need a change i guess but i really do like the current one.
for a different idear what about Saxon being tortured outside the academy by goth (where the academy is the largest item so it's not too gorey)

Or maybe the acadamy scene, but to one side of thee cover, have Alyssa in the tree. That way, it will also show that she is a big part in it.

Or even when Tor is getting, well shall we say, "big hurties!" near the end. And have it drawn with him looking at Alyssa, with her holding her arms out like she did.

These are just idea's, even though I did still like the cover.

I just think mainly something that has at least one or the other, (in reference to Tor and Alyssa) on it, to show that they are a main part played in it.

Just ideas just the same,

Satine

question:

what happened to the painting that is the front cover of the book now? what happened to either of them? does the artist keep them, do you have them? the publishers?

What about the bit at the end where Tor is tied up to be tortured? Have him on one side of the cover, while Alyssa watches him from the balcony.. that way both characters are on the cover, and that it looks like something interesting will happen. It leaves the person wondering, and they find that they are using their imagination to think of what will happen next. In other words, they might be more intrigued.

Hi everyone,

I walked into a bookshop today to browse the fantasy section for a good read. The first book I picked up was Revenge! I was thrilled (I didn't even know it was out) and needless to say, I didn't have to look any further:-)

On the topic of covers, this one has me guessing. I assume the guy at the front is Tor, but who's the other guy? Is it Adongo of the Moruks?? I guess I'll just have to keep reading. Hehe! (try to stop me)

CL sorry I didn't answer you. I don't get the original artwork of covers. Belongs to artist unless I want to pay big money for it and then I think publisher might have first dibs although I don't believe they'd want.

Lisa's right. It's Tor and Goth leaping off the burning ship although artist took a little bit of licence because Tor had two other people with him. Got to be careful of spoilers here.

Destiny definitely published August 1 - available first week.

....and I should get a peep at the cover of Destiny on Monday. Will report soonest!

Heya again!

I believe the other dude on Revenge cover is Goth... Adongo didn't join them until after the ship went down... didn't he??

Oh btw, Destiny (the third book) will be out begining of August I think... so keep an eye out for it. <img src=">
