Thank you all for the warm welcome. Finished 'Revenge' this afternoon. I tried to make it last as long as possible but it didn't work
As to Fiona's question on favourite authors/books. I became hooked on fantasy a few years ago after reading 'The Ancient Future Trilogy' by Traci Harding. Since then I've been fortunate to find many wonderful fantasy writers including, Robin Hobb (I think my favourite trilogy by Robin was the Farseer Trilogy),Sara Douglas (mainly the Axis Trilogy), Anne Bishop and the Black Jewels Trilogy, Raymond Feist (although for some reason I didn't enjoy the Krondor series much after the third), Juliet Marillier and the Sevenwaters Trilogy......and many more. Occasionally I give myself a break and read a suspense or romance however I find that most of the time fantasy novels have suspense and romance interwoven into the story so you tend to get the best of all genres. It now appears that I will have to add Fiona McIntosh to the list of authors that I feel a leap of excitement when I see their latest book on the shelves. I was reading the link the other day regarding the naming of the last chapter of the trilogy and remember thinking that to me it wouldn't really matter what it was named, most of the time once I've really enjoyed an author I would buy a book they wrote without even giving more than a cursory glance to the synopsis let alone the title! However, I can understand that in order to capture those first readers that the name can be a make or break (and I must admit covers make a big impact on me when trying to find a new author to try). I remember recently seeing Robin Hobb's latest offering after what seemed like forever and my husband looking quite bemused as I ran into the bookstore and held on to the book as if someone might take it from me before I got to buy it. As the nick suggests - I'm an addict - and proud to be one MemberTotal Posts: 210 Last Online: 23rd May 2004 18:15:00 Registered: 13th May 2004 23:30:00
Fantasy adict
I know what you mean about books. All my friends just give me a bemused look when I go into a bookstore just to see if the book I want is there. There is nothing like that new book smell and opening the first page of a new book or one you have wanted to read for ages. The only problem is the autor sometimes keeps you waiting for ages for the next book (not you Fiona) Im thinking of Melanie Rawn and her exiles book the second one was released in 1996 and she still hasnt written the last one. Im in rather a good mood this morning casue my home computer has finally been fixed after 5 months without it so it will be much easier to post messages and give them some thought rather than sureptishously at work Page 2 of 2 -> 1, 2, Last Page.
