I've always loved Tasmania but this time it's better than ever. I'm so relaxed I'm virtually comatose, although I am walking/jogging around the bay reguarly, eating lots of fish and fresh fruit to counterbalance the immense amounts of chocolate (holiday mood) and I must admit we've been rather busy this first week, getting organised for long distance Christmas and visitors arriving in a few days. I'm reading heaps which is SUCH a treat. Has anyone read John Connolly? I love his work and next to Thomas Harris is one of the two thriller writers who can make me too frightened to turn the page. For anyone who loves the combination of horror and fantasy then don't fail to read Black Angel. Some are describing it as his masterpiece - I think I'd have to agree but then you'd need to read his others first to make that call I guess. It is truly dark and shouldn't bed read after the sun goes down! The time is fast approaching when I must stop reading though and start writing. I have to finish Emissary whilst I'm here. I'll wait until the celebrations of Christmas week are complete. So for now I am just going to enjoy sleeping in - oh the joy - waking to the sounds of birds and frogs, eating healthy and enjoying views that at certain times can just stop me in my tracks. Not even constant rain can dampen my pleasure. And now that I can finally check my email and drop in here, I am even happier. Hope everyone is well? Fx

Good to hear that your recovery period is producing such relaxation and contentment.  Elite athletes perform better with a longer recovery period and I am sure that you too will benefit greatly from reconnecting with balance.

Power to your hand - Write well when the time comes and may Emissary if longer survive the editors cull.  Dear editor - please reconsider the brutal cull and engage in additional generosity and leeway for us mere readers...

Enjoy all the delicious air and food and company and exercise etc... sounds like a touch of heaven.  Hope you do not get sick of chocolate..

I've just cooked a batch of Sorpotel (Indian/Goan dish) for Xmas eve and after 5hrs of preparation remembered why I do not cook the full repetoire anymore.

36 tomorrow...
