I will finish Emissary within the next 4000 words. I'm doing a bike ride down Mount Wellington tomorrow so please all cross your fingers and hope I don't break mine in the descent that is terrifying and exciting me at the same time. I had no idea this is where the book would finish but it's the ideal stopping point I feel and it's also around 25,000 more words than Odalisque so that should keep DN happier! Talk soon. x

Congratulations on completing - within 4000 words - Emissary.  Yahoo and extra yahoo for the 25,000 extra words that we ALL will appreciate - editors take note.

Hope the freewheeling down the mountain was the experience you expected - biking riding is great - I did a whole month cycling around Luxemburg - great way to travel - except for the day the brakes failed - and oh the day the back wheel spokes all snapped.  Hmmm ... must do that again - cycling down Wellington recommended?

What's next?

being the sentimentalist that I am, one day, in the far far future when i actually get to read this book and polish off yet another one of your books, I'll look back on the post above and say "I was there 1 hour and 22 minutes after you actually finished writing the book"

Imagine the things that will come inbetween these two moments :)

Small things huh lol

CONGRATULATIONS - That's a major achievement given you are also on holidays with the family and balancing other life matters.  Tasmania definitely agrees with you - cooler weather less draining and air much cleaner .... hmmm - mayhaps this will become an annual pilgramage!

Hope the editor/s find the longer version a desirable format and will consider readers' request for more - we want MORE - please!!! YEEHAH....   Looking forward to the minor edits?  be well and Happy and indulge in some choc?

So I take it the mountain bike descent on "Mt Welly" went well and there were no accidents! Good to see.

Well done (raises wine filled glass)!

Congratulations on finishing it.

Now we just have to survive the utter torture I'm sure we're all suffering until it's released!

Thanks all, you're very kind and so supportive. You can't imagine what this means to this writer. I salute you. I must also admit that we didn't get to Mt Wellington - car trouble - but we have re-organised for next week so I promise to report back on my cycling down a mountain. It sounds very scary but I'm sure this is a tour designed to be exhilarating rather than frightening. I did visit the magnificent State Forest of Tasmania earlier this week to do the magical Tahune Air Walk that takes you 100 feet up into the trees and you can walk for about half a kilometre amongst the forest. It's very special. Afterwards we did the Eagle Hang Glide - oh, breathless stuff. It dragged me backwards across the mighty Huon River and then I dangled up there in the trees, again about 100 feet up, the soft rapids below, the birds flying around me and then WHOOSH! down I came like a rocket, screaming my way through the forest and loving it. Yes, Tasmania definitely agrees with me weatherwise and writing-wise. I have been so productive and yet haven't felt it impact at all on our family or our summer break. We are sleeping so well, so deeply that I have no trouble rising early and getting a couple of hours writing in before the house officially wakes. It's terrific. I think it's the cool nights, all the exceptionally clear, fresh air and feeling so peaceful. We've got a cruise lined up to the awesome Bruny Island - chance to see whales, dolphins and some spectacular scenery. Tassie rocks!

Bruny Island as well - wow - major discovery tour of most of Tassie - and their great food too. The adventure activities are great ways to stimulate the senses and get the adrenalin rush - different to writing the last few lines of a book - and reconnecting with nature - and Tassie is Mother Nature to the max. Thanks for sharing the experiences - could almost feel the rush and sensations - yeehah... I agree about the cooler nights - definitely assist sleeping - deeper. Also cooler environs stimulate brain activity and higher order intelligence - probably dreams too - imagination etc. It all sounds great. Would be good if you could advise which travel magazine this all gets printed / published in. That way we get to see the photos too? Keep living life to the full and the bike ride up? and down Mt Wellington is another personal adventure to stimulate any dulled senses. Wear sensible shoes

Read my feedback on the Peppermint Bay cruise we did a couple of days ago - it's called Today in general forum. It really was an awesome day of re-connecting with the wonder of nature.

I understand, you want a little break after such a sprint-marathon... But... about part 3: Goddess is tentative title?

Yes, Goddess is the working title but sometimes these things stick. All the three major publishers in Australia, US and UK like it, so we'll see. I will start writing it from July or thereabouts. Cheers, F

Release date in Australia for Emissary is November 1, 2006. Yes, of course, I'll sign everyone's books! But to answer your question, yes I will certainly be doing signings around some of the capital cities at the end of the year. F
