You know, it's really rather suiting that I've just finished reading Emissary now, when I first read Odalisque this time last year, due to the Books Alive program.

It was fantastic!! I was slapping my forehead right up to the point of

Spoilers ahead - highlight text to read (if you want)

Pez and Lazar figuring out who Maliz had disguised himself as. Then I was hurling insults at them for being so blind!!

Ana's putting herself in a pretty risky situation. I wouldn't be surprised if she was faking the pregnancy symptoms. And I have the feeling that if she is preggers, it'll be Lazar's. Still, I was deliriously happy when they finally got together.

I'm looking forward to reading the final part next year.

Massively huge congratulations and thanks for such a wonderful book!!!!

Hi PpmKatie Great to hear from you and thanks for enjoying the series. Yes, poor old Lazar and Pez - without the foresight of knowledge that the reader has I'm surprised they've ever worked it out but thank goodness and I have to admit when I wrote that bit I felt a huge weight lift from my shoulders! As for the other bit, well Ana has already shown us she's a risk-taker. And you certainly don't have to wait until next year to learn the outcome. November for Goddess, although yes, July 2008 if you want to complete the small paperback set, which I completely understand. Hate my trilogies lining up in differing sizes! Thanks again. Hope you'll visit again. F

Sorry Ailsa!!! Be more careful next time, promise!! :) Fiona, I can understand the whole weight lifting. Must have been great to open up the story more!! And waiting for the small version is it exactly. I've broken my series sometimes by being impatient, and while the read was wonderful, it's annoying trying to fit everyone neatly on the shelves. Oh well. Being a booklover will do that. :)

Glad to know you are liking Fiona's books and I agree wholeheartly with different sized books can be a pain in the lower anatomy!, but being book lovers we cope.

Hi all, I also just finished reading Emissary about 5 minutes ago and I just had to become a member and tell you Fiona how much I enjoyed it. I like reading the small paperbacks as well (and my bookcase shelves are too small for the large version) so I had to wait a little longer and I wanted to read Odalisque again as well, but it was definately worth the wait. Looking forward to reading the final book. It's a long wait till next year for the small version though - I may have to break my rule of books being the same size :) Well done Fiona!

Thanks, Lozz. Emissary was one of those fun books to write because of the big adventure that suddenly goes barmy in the second half. I really loved that whole desert stuff. I'm sorry that you have to wait so long for book 3. I signed off on it yesterday so we're gearing up for print now and the temptation to break your rule will start to gnaw at you from end November!

hello everyone, I just finished reading Emissary and like Odalisque, I loved it. This type of series is new to me because the books i usually read are packed with nonstop action and war. This is not to say that the Percheron Saga is not an action-packed page turner. Instead i think this series even more of a cliff-hanger with more intensity and action. what I love about this series is that it brings out different and new aspects of what could be called a not so far fetched storyline which makes it so unique. I also liked that the story is seen through the point of view of more than one person, i have never read a novel that has used this style and i wished more writers would write like that. keep up the great work Fiona and keep the books coming!

p.s. im bummed that i live in the U.S. because after reading the godess threads i feel so behind becuase i have to wait until next year to get my hands on godess, shucks i guess i'll have to move to australia! haha

Hello Tyguy - fab to hear from you and thank you, thank you for trying the books and enjoying them. Now you'll have to give The Quickening a go while you wait for Goddess to hit your shelves. I've just signed off on the edited manuscript with New York so it's not too far away. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - it's always fascinating to hear what readers want and enjoy....but especially why. Visit again - great to have you here. F

This link is to the EOS Harper Collins Newsletter I received today - Emissary is listed as No2 on their top 10 list.  Beat a few notables including Sheri Tepper.  The site also offers free reading of selected e-books as part of their 10 yr celbration - new releases look good too - including latest from Robin Hobb.

Congratulations for maintaining international best seller status

Don't know that I helped that number, as I received my copy when it first came out back in October of last year.
