I am a big fan of the Famouse Five, Trixie Beldon, ect ect, tell what you think about these book and do they relate to the kids of today.

I want to introduce some into the library at my school as i think they offer a lot of good morals ect.

I love the books of Enid Blyton, i think she wrote some great stuff and its a shame that we are loosing it. Books like folk of the faraway tree very early fantasy and one that kept me going, i loved this book.

Yes I was first introduced to The Magic Faraway Tree when I was 6 and I LOVED it. I will probably read it to my child as well.

Oh my god I though I was the only one who loved and remembered those books.

The folk of the faraway tree the magic faraway tree etc.

The magic wishing chair was a fav too. I just brough them both for xmas in hard cover for my future kids. Quite a good price too.

I always wanted to climb the ladder to find out what magic land would be their today. Dame Washalot was the best.

*Sigh kids today dont know what they are missing*

My 9 year old scored the first four books in the Narnia series for Christmas. I'm looking forward to reading them with him as I never read them as a kid myself. (I did see the BBC series and that seemed pretty good.)

Adios :hat

Wow brings back memories! I used to read the famous five, and also - the magnificent (or secret of both i forgot hehe) seven. The magnificent seven were the same kind of books.

My favourites were always the narnia chronicles. I actually have the whole of the Narnia chronicles on MPF format unabridged audio - will full cast and sound effects. Totally fantastic!

Nowadays many kids are reading "His dark materials" triology by Philip Pullman. It has been rated against the Narnia Chronicles - but is a lot darker and a bit more mature reading. Its very good indeed.

Yes Enid Blyton was wonderful. I loved the Faraway Tree and the Wishing Chair when I was younger. And when slightly older the Secret Seven and Famous Five were great fun too. I'm going to be introducing my children to these great reads (when we have some that is!).

I *loved* the Magic Faraway Tree and the Wishing Chair. They should be in every library! My friends and I were talking about them only the other day! I also had a heap of Trixie Belden books, which I loved too. All of these books looked fat, so I thought I was a pretty hot reader!! :rollin

I never read the Famous Five, but I have friends that did. Nancy Drew was slightly scary at the time, with Trixie a little less so! Can you actually still buy Trixie Belden?

I can't say Enid Blyton is one of my favourite authors but she is one the pioneers in the fantasy genre. Did moonface ever get on anyone elses nerves?

"we represent the lollypop guild, the lollypop guild, the lollypop guild. we represent the lollypop guild, the lollypop guild, the lollypop guild...". As for cute, I s'pose I was, as far as cute will stretch for pastel colored clothes and pants that had a hoola hoop for the waist band and a gigantic lollypop.
