I finished reading my first TG book the other day -Wizard's First Rule. I was very impressed. He may not be as poetic as some in deliverign his imagery - but the story is a gem. ALso very imaginative creatures and use of magic. Most impressive was the ending. Very neat, no lose ends, yet room for the (many) sequels.

I've already bought the next book in the Sword of truth series - Stone of Tears. I hope it's as good as the original.

My wife and two of the Apaches force me to watch this show...so, I've bookmarked your site and I'll let the middle Apache check it out.

Good luck...'cause the middle Apache is one tought critic. (7 year old females seem to be that way...don't they?)

I really like Terrys work although be warned it gets very dark and there is a fair bit of torture in hs books. I think he lsot the plot a bit with the 7th (I think) novel which hardly featured any of the main characters but went off on somewhat of a tangent. But still better than Robert Jordans series which i have given up on reading got way to confusing tomany characters to care about one particular one and dragging on way to long

I love Terry Goodkind. He's one of my favorite authors, which I know I'm going to read and re-read and re-read. Although he did go on a tangeant in book 7, keep in mind that there is nothing TG writes in his book without a reason. Usually, we get to understand within the same novel, but I'm sure that 7th book's reason of being will all make sense when he publishes the next book, "Naked Empire", next July.

You're on for a ride, Slatz. Enjoy! <img src=">

I'm with Crusie. I like closure to a story which is why I gave up on Jordan.

Yes I gave up on Jordan as well after Seven or Eight I think. But I also like longer series if it doesn't drag. Eddings pulled it off nicely.

Just as a matter of interest, absolutely nothing happens in Jordan's Wheel of Pain and Torment until page 70. (Don't believe me, check it yourselves.)

A Boy and His Dog by Harlan Ellison, the best Speculative Fiction novella ever written...doesn't even last 70 pages.

Strange but true.

I alsostopped reading Jordon, though I don't know why. I intend to start reading them again. All the way back to the first book I go. Well, it's really not that far. I stopped at the fourth.

I have number 2...in anticipation of someone giving me a book voucher for Christmas. (I usually get book vouchers for birthdays etc...it's nice when your friends/family actually KNOW what you'd prefer.)

However, I also need book 2 in Roberson's Cheysuli series. I read the first one the other day, knowing I didn't have 2, but do have 3-5. I have to finish this series...book one was a great read.

And, I need books 3 and onwards in Glen Cook's The Black Company series...which I think is up to about 10. I reread the first two recently and can't seem to find anymore hidden in the book-cases.(Could have sworn there were more up there...)

And...well you get the idea <img src=hrug">

Wizard's First Rule is probably one of my favourite TG books although I adore "Faith Of The Fallen" (I actually cried whilst reading it!).

I do have to say though that book 7 made me feel rather ill whilst reading it - a problem that I didn't have with any of the other books. I had to force myself to go through with it, and it's not something that I'd read again (unlike the other TG books which I read over and over again).
Hopefully his next book will be better!
