Lisa, that negative attitute is totally not acceptable. For starters, its going to be an ACCEPTANCE letter.
Whats needed is a bit of optimism. Princess, do you have an optimism wand anywhere handy??

I've been talking about this short story I've been invited to submit but I should let you know it's open to everyone as well...... have a go!
I'm lifting this from the current Southern Write, the SA Writers Centre Newsletter:
FANTASY STORIES FOR FOREVER SHORES
Peter McNamara is collecting stories for a Wakefield Press/Aphelion Publications fatnasy anthology, working title: Forever Shores.
This publication is planned to run to approx 100,000 words and have aprint run of approx 3000 copies. Payment for this initial edition will be on a per-word basis and on publication. Second and subsequent editions will be covered by a more complex royalties formula: all details available from:
2macs@adam.com.au
Preferred word length for submission is the range 5000-10,000 words and PMc's definition of fantasy is as broad as it can be: namely those stories that editors and publishers run under the title "fantasy".
Quality of writing will be the only criterion used for story selection. Submission by email attachment to the address above. Hard copy to:
P O Box 619, North Adelaide, SA 5006.
Deadline: December 1, 2002
Good luck anyone who has a shot.

Sounds like an extention to my dragon story is needed for this... maybe I can expand it from 3,000 to 5,000 words.

Actually, I sat down yesterday and, taking an idea I had for a whole book, knocked out a 6000 word short story. Even had it crited already. Now I just gotta find the energy to fix it up...

Right.
My short story "Rhiannon" has been emailed off to Peter Macnamara so fingers crossed that he even reads it.
Lisa I know you have sent yours in. I hope that you are selected... I have read your tale and it is great... you know I love that naked dancing sand girl... whoo hoo...oppps sounds like Princess' fantasy doesn't it.
Ok too late it has gone... we all just sit and wait.
Fiona I am just hoping that Lisa's piece and "Rhiannon" don;t force your story out of the anthology. If it happens don't feel bad, remember not everyone can be in it.
Lisa good luck!

I've got lots of batterys in the cupboard somewere. What size do you need??
Actually I could do with a bit of optimism myself. I'm doing my honours year of a BSc and my thesis is due in two weeks *gulp* My friend and I have been trading stories on how terrible our thesis are.

Thanks Princess. I needed that, but did it have to hit me right in the... well... I know it's a big target, but honestly, did you have to point it out in such a manner??
Yes, the story is (bombs) away. Just gotta wait and see (the rejection letter) what happens...

Writing stories and doing a thesis??????
Tell you what... I will give you bucket loads of optimism while you chuck some enthusiasm my way
You two are amazing!!!! You have already won by doing what you have done..... Lisa, I guess the outcome is in the lap of the writer-gods in the sky.... and dragongal - I'm sure it just seems terrible because you are caught up in it.....
I'm off to buy cases of champagne for the celebration night when the results are in
As for the zapping.... sorry Lisa, I shall practise that aim
