Byzantium's Crown is not available in print, anymore, unless you buy it used. And from the looks of it, the copies I've seen are
really old. So, instead, I bought the e-book version. With 1000+ books on my shelves, I guess I can buy an electronic version from time to time... although I don't like reading fiction on the screen too much...

I agree. I have to feel a book as well as see it... also nothing smells like a book. Plus our sense of smell triggers memories more than any other sense... so is the quickest way to our emotions...
Ask any perfume seller they know... by the by... Vanilla is a scent that is supposed to remind one of their mother...
What I do for e-books is print them off and read then that way...
I know I haven't seen Byzantium's crown for a long time...but it's like H.P. Lovecraft, it comes in and out of fashion.

One of the things I do when I buy a book, Soldier, is smell it. I love the smell of printed pages. If a salesperson catches me at it, they get such strange looks. How can you work in a place like this and not develop a thing for the smell of books?

Hello all...2 books I read this week which i loved.
Black Gryphon (again) and what awonderful revisit that was,... M. Lackey is superb, read her if you can.
Susan Schwartz (Editor.. sometimes author) is blinking good... a bit feminist... has an alternative history where Cleo and Tony leave Alexandria and go to Byzantium, so sort of fantasy with alt-history feel... Has druids... with teeth, use magic for harm... its got it all... bit anti-men but hey you get that.
Great visuals, great lines, a great read... do you think i like this book?
Stop gushing, I'm gone!

*sigh* misty lackey....i lurve her books!
and i just finished re-reading the gryphon books again too!
i think my fav is the Kerowyn book (by the sword) and the Tarma and Kethry stories (Oath trilogy)
but i can really make no discrepancies between any of her books, as i will always re-read any of the valdemar books over and over again
and i am slowy finding the SERRAted books in obscure 2nd hand book stores!

Somebody pour a bucket of water of Soldierblue...afore he embarrasses himself and does something with a book that he's going to regret.
Adios
