If you claim to read Fantasy and you die without reading at least one of this dude's books...they'll laugh at you when you get to Heaven, (or wherever?)

One of the few authors I've ever read that has an actual, recognizable style...Swann's books are in a class of their own. How high up the ladder of Fantasy authors that is will depend on your own personal tastes, but, they ARE distinctive.

Swann's version of Fantasy was based firmly in mythology, be it Classical, Etruscan, Biblical, Egyptian, whatever, but it was Swann's ability to make stale, heard it a thousand times stories come alive that sets him apart.

I really don't have the words to do justice to his work so...
