I just picked it up, and so far, it's wonderful! Jacqueline does a good recap job by making concise references to the events of the first book, which is good because it's been about a year since I last read Kushiel's Dart. I promise myself to re-read the entire trilogy in one shot when all the books are out.

In the first 80 pages of the book, Carey builds plot and prepares the reader for the intrigues to come. I think I'm gonna go now. I have some reading to do! <img src=">

I'll keep you posted.

I finished this book yesterday, and like it's predecessor, made me shed a few tears.

What is nice about these books (Kushiel's Dart and Kushiel's Chosen), is that Carey wraps up the plot lines by the end of the book, leaving only one single unresolved issue that leaves the door open for the next one that will obviously follow. The Kushiel series is a masterpiece, a tale to savor. The language is poetic (she uses made-up French words, and I'm French <img src="> ), the setting is enchanting, the characters are alive, and the intrigues are devious! They very much remind me of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones, in a different style. I strongly recommend you get and read that book.

Jacqueline Carey has finished writing the third and last installment of the series, Kushiel's Avatar, which presently waits the ministrations of the editor. It should be published by spring 2003. Go check her website at: www.jacquelinecarey.com

I am something of a francophile myself... Paris is my favourite city, Napolean my hero, French Cuisine my fave food, Chateauneuf du pape my fave wine, the French accent, it delightful, and Parisienne feamles are ooh la la.

Thanks for the web site, enjoyed a visit...

Did you know... that apart from the flyers, The Canadiennes are my fave Hockey Team... and Guy Lafleur my fave player... of course you are too young to remember him.

Soldier: The Canadiens... well, they used to be quite a team, but have been suffering a loss in popularity since they won the Stanley Cup in 1991 (or was it 1993?). A few jokes have been made at their expense.

Guy Lafleur! Of course I remember him! *bats her eyelashes* How old do you think I am? <img src=">

My current client is Pfizer Canada, the father of the Viagra infamous pill, and Guy Lafleur is their mascot. "Erectile disfunction is a serious matter. Talk to your doctor today." That's his line at the moment. I saw him at the office at the beginning of summer to launch the series of TV adds he was going to be on. He got a hockey shirt with Pfizer's logo on it. <img src=">

You like the French ladies, huh? It's all in the legs, Soldier! <img src=">

I thought it was all in the style... they have that certain... something I don't quite understand...

and that accent... even a word like "stylo" sounds so sensuous....
