The Chronicles of the Cheysuli, great series, what a concept, wouldn't it be great to be able to change into some marvellous animal, unfortunately I would probably change into an animal with grey hair and arthritis.( and requiring reading glasses) The series is definitely about due for a reread, do you have all 8 books?

I have only read the first two. Then put it down for a while and when I decided that I felt like continuing I couldn't find them again. Although I notice that they are now out in omnibus form.

Fiona, you are really churning out some great names for The Quickening. I would guess trying to think of new names for a new series would be difficult, but you are on fire. Great names, excellent words!

Thanks Manon.
I haven't read this series because, believe it or not, I have books 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Guess I'll have to try and find 2 someplace.

i have just finished reading Emily Roddas "Rowan" series, they include:
Rowan of Rin
Rowan and the Travellers
Rowan and the Keeper of the Crystal
& Rowan and the Zebak

they are classified as primary school kids books, but i just loved them

two other great fantasy books are
Sabriel
& Lirael both by Garth Nix and the third book that will be published soon is called "The Abhorsen"

Whille I was waiting to get 'Destiny' back, I re-read Heinlein's 'The Door into Summer'.

If you're into either cats or time travel or both...I'd recommend it.

My son gives the Wind Singer trilogy a similar big thumbs up as he did for entire Deltora Quest series and now he's just started reading Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I've said they have to be at least 14 before they can read mine!

Emily Rodda has cornered part of the market in young adult fiction she is a smart cookie... and a surprisingly good read.. as ar Bryan Jaques Redwall series.

Sabriel & Lirael both by Garth Nix in my opinion would not have been published if Garth had not been one of the leading agents in Australia. Although my little girl Emily (aged 20) loved them and thinks Lirael is one of the best books she has ever read.

Fiona, if your son enjoys 'Ender's Game', and I have no doubt he will...after all, it is an unsung SF classic...tease, or annoy, depending on your mood at the time, him with the news that in mabey 3 or 4 years there will be a movie of the first two books.
