Just realised who was missing from the comprehensive list marion Zimmer Bradleys although she is more scifi than fantasy they are still a really really good read

Alas poor MZB is dead now... She wrote some great stuff and her Avalon was fantastic... nice to se the arthurian legend written from a female perspective.

She once read a short story of mine over in the USA... and sent me an email to continue writing... what a lovely lady.

she's dead???

thats my greatest fear you know. that a author i really love with a series unfinished goes ahead and dies leaving everyone mournful and a series with no ending!! *sob*

please dont go stepping infornt of any fast moving objects in the near future fiona!

Cheer up, Tvahlya! All of Marion Zimmer Bradley's notes (those that are usable, at least) are being written by various authors! She passed away in 1999, and there are books that will be published up to 2005 with her name on it.

You read Dunsany... fantastic books and most underrated, I like Hagarrd myself... Quartermain is so cool, and the Horseclans, gosh havent seen them since early 80's and where not easy to get anyway outside the states...

but love your book case.

If you get the opportunity ask for Peter Morwood "horselords" just a wonderful read.

Soldierblue, I'm afraid I'm one of these sad individuals who has to keep a copy of the books I read. I've had to cash-in or just leave behind a couple of collections in my time, due to travelling, but I've been putting this one together now for about 25 years...so there's a lot of the old stuff hidden away on my shelves.

Truth is it's been ages since I actually read any Dunsany, or Lovecraft, or C.S.Lewis...though, by the time I finish Fiona's 'Trinity', I may need to read something with a nice, gentle, style like "That Hideous Strength".

Bye the way, has anyone mentioned Michael Ende's "Neverending Story" yet?

Like you I have travelled, and so have book dumps all over th world, I call it in storage, I hate to part with a book, but sometimes some writers deserve to be dumped,

I cry when I think of the Alexandrian library burning... I hate to think what knowledge we have lost.

When I lived in Belfast I paid homage to his home and re-read everything included MERE CHRISTIANITY... superb stuff

The classics books now being released... have THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS... included so you can buy H.P Lovecraft easily now... yippy, he comes around in cycles...

I adore Lovecrafts short stories, and even have all the music by the rock band H.P. Lovecraft...

mind you the kids think i'm crazy, (no need to agree team) I sat here the other night listening to the greast speeches of Winston Churchill...

As you can see I am weird, so you may choose to ignore the ramblings of this old fool.

But, I do admire your book case, mine is pretty poor in comparison, but around the world I'm looking good hehe.
