I liked the series quite a bit. I think his writing style is nice, though I must admit that I was disappointed when all was said and done with the trilogy (er, quadology).

I read that one a long time ago. I remember only a few parts of it because it took so long to start, I couldn't focus my attention to the story. I would read, but my mind would wander in some other direction. Overall, I liked them very much. I even started to re-read it again last year, but then I realized there were so many books waiting to be read that I left it for another time, like when I get some long vacation!

"> Mainly, I think it was a good read. I hear that Otherland, Tad Williams' other series, is quite good too.

Loved Dragonbone but it was a long time ago so don't remember it intimately. Was this the story which included the Elvish people with the purple hair? Didn't enjoy Otherland but don't let that put anyone off ... I just didn't get into it at any stage, probably because I picked it up expecting something along the lines of Dragonbone and discovered the tales were light years apart.

Actually Steve's was a typo. He left the y off of German. He really meant the country not the language
I really like this series and rate it as one of my all-time favourites. Don't ask me to pinpoint why though. I know its slow to get going and has several periods throughout which can easily be skipped (especially in Stone of Farewell) but I like the characterisations, especially Binabik.
Ive never tried to read the Otherworld series. the blurb on the back never turned me on.

Tad Williams' most recent project is Shadowmarch. It's an online book that he was posting a chapter at a time--an experiment of online viability and of bypassing the publisher. Apparently, this first experiment failed, and he's going to get back to his new project: War of the Flowers.
