Guys,

Have to tell you (if you don't already know) that Jack Vance is a wonderful writer... read the green pearl etc from his Lyonesse books........ King Arthur never looks the same afterwards.

I highly recommend them... they are on the verge of literature which isn't a bad thing.

Hope you enjoy.

Cheers
Steve

Soldier you'll be thrilled to know that I have just a week ago finished reading part three of Lyonesse. I think I read the trilogy 10 years ago and picked them up again because I'd forgotten that whole thing of the green pearl and wanted to remind myself.

Yes, fantastic for the most part although I do admit I found the fairy stuff just a little too childish especially sitting amongst such a mature story with use of high language.

Found myself crying again at Kul (was that his name? - oh dear my memory fails me sometimes). I just love that sort of courage and nobility in a story.

Glad you brought this up. Everyone should read them if they haven't.

Yes, I thought Jack was trying to get amessage with the fairy childish stuff... I ams till not sure what???

But the green peral stuff is wonderful... and I am pleased you read them. If I can I will try to drop the odd green peral of wisdom (pun intended... no need to slap my wrist.. I did it myself.)

Cheers
Steve
