A rather chilling story called The White Road by John Connelly. Anyone ever read any of his stuff? It was given to me as a sample from a bookseller friend who said it would scare the pants off me and it did! Sitting in my hotel room in Sydney and I had to leave the curtains open onto a very bright Darling Harbour or I definitely would not have got to sleep!

I got all excited thinking I had read something of his, but when I checked the bookshelves, I saw it was John Donnelly, not Connelly. The book was Stone, a rather chilling, horror type read that I haven't read since the first time.
