Hi Fiona

I am currently reading the bone dolls twin and it looks like it is going to be very good (im only 15 pages into it and already there has been treachery and magic). I have also just finished reading Magicians Guild by Trudi cavann (sp?) another Australian fantasy author and her first book is fantastic well worth reading

just finished reading bone dolls twin and though it took me a while to get into i found it a very good read. its one of those books I refuse to read late at night as they often give me nightmares.

The book ends with me desperatly wanting the next one to be released so I can find out what happens to people next very climatic.

Hmm, do I admit to reading something???

Well, I WAS reading "Realms of the Ring Lords" by Laurence Gardner. It's an explanation on how myths and mythical creatures developed and are all intricately linked to the legends of the Ring and the Holy Grail. It also goes into detail on the links between these legends and Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. The genesis of faries, elves, mermaids and even the Arthurian stories, including the Lady of the Lake, are all explained.

Very interesting read, highly recommended for anyone interested in any sort of mythology/Grail Lore.

Also by the same author is "Bloodline of the Holy Grail". I haven't read it yet, but it sounds very intriguing.

It also seems like a blosoming time for Australian authors....

In Tasmania last week I picked up a copy of Bernard Cornwell's "Harlequin". It has a very powerful opening and I feel as though I will enjoy this tale. Has anyone read it? And what are you all reading at the moment?

p.s. I think we should re-name this section Books rather than Brilliant Books in case we want to give one a hard time!

Bone Doll's Twin is something I keep thinking I must buy. Actually I will now Ambrai and I've also just ordered Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. I really do enjoy historical pieces. Have any of you read Sharon Penman. Mighty stuff. Yes Aba..it is definitely a critical period in time for Australian authors! Read Rosie's comment on general - she's all fired and up and ready to create. F

Jan 10....picked up a book on Chinese Medicine my husband bought on his way home through Hong Kong recently and cannot put it down! Yin and Yang - I mean the complexities of them - are such a challenge. Loving it.
