If you're into SciFi rather than Fantasy, then I'd suggest you try this dude. In particular Moonrise and Moonwar, (which appear to be available from both Dymocks and Angus & Robertson, ) and his Exiles trilogy (which, unfortunately, doesn't appear to be available from either. Which is why we have second-hand book-shops, is it not?) Bova's a story teller, which means that sometimes things will happen and you will go, Oh, come on?. His plots aren't always air-tight, but his style is such that you will forgive him the odd petite stretch. He also has a couple of books about a character called Sam Gunn, which I have, but haven't read yet, which come highly recommended. Adios :pimp
