Mmmm..... Hugh Jackman..... <img src=">

ahem, sorry, got side-tracked for a moment.

Saw this movie, loved it! Personally, I love Richard Roxburough(sp?) as Dracula, I think he does a wonderful job. (Thats just me, coming from seeing him as The Duke in Moulin Rouge) He has a wonderful sense of dark sophistication, and looks pretty spunky too!! (only as Dracula, not as Distastful Dukie)

David Wenham is also good as the comic relief friar in the movie. Comes out with some of the best lines such as:
"I think my superiors would be more friendly if you actually brought them (the creatures) back alive."
"Why must you kill everything?"
"I'm not a monk, I'm only a friar."

And then, of course, Hugh Jackman. WELL! Other than one of the last scenes with him all muscley and topless (insert drool here), He is the aussie actor we know well. He did a really good job as Mr. Helsing, and looked good next to his leading lady, Kate Beckinsale (Who's boots I love!)

All in all, a good movie. Starts in black and white which is unusual, but the efffects are well-done, and the actors really fit into their roles. Can't say too much without giving away key-things, but I'm hearing rumour of VH2 (oh yeah!)!!! Prolly tried to fit in as many of the whole Dracula/Frankenstein/Blah Blah characters, but I personally really enjoyed it.

Beers and Berries,
Sat

*Yes, I have been away. My comp has died and been reborn, but the internet is slow as, because some stuff needs to be done to it....or somethin like that!

Well I made the mistake of seeing this after seeing Troy on a movie day with my better half (RealAngelique). It was.... good. Which is unfortunate, only because I was expecting great. I thought Kate and Hugh were excellent, but I got the feeling half way through that the suspension of disbelief had left the building with a scene involving a ravine I won't go into as it's a spoiler. For me Dracky baby was terrible! He wasn't scary, he was funny, and the sad part is he wasn't funny when I think the director wanted him to exude some dark horror... Fortunately he didn't overshadow the fantastic lines of the Friar and offsider to the Big VH. The sotry had so much going for it and I really wanted to enjoy it, but I found myself laughing at it too many times, rather than with the movie. If it were to be rewritten from around half way through it would be a swashbuckling adventure I would be proud to own, maybe (perish the thought) the script writer died or took ill half way through or they went over budget? 6.5/10
