At the request of the lady Fiona, I'll be posting a report of my activities at TorCon 3, the World Science Fiction Convention that is held in Toronto.
I arrived in one piece to Toronto this afternoon. No sign of people wearing masks (which was a great exaggeration, by the way) or power shortage… Toronto is as peaceful as ever, people going about their business as always. It's a big city, and fast.
I got to my hotel, which I realized is attached to the convention center where TorCon is held - I knew there was a reason I booked a room in that particular hotel, but strangely enough, I didn't remember until the front desk clerk told me "and the convention center is right here to your right." Perfect! That means I'll be able to get back to my room on the thirteenth floor between events, and take a break. Yep, thirteenth floor. The clerk assured me there were no ghosts on that floor. Pity.
Took a walk around downtown, looking for my favorite store: "The World's Biggest Book Store." Found it. Still at the same place it was ten years ago. J Couldn't resist buying a few books. They have a lot of books, and their huge amount of floor space enables them to display the books showing the covers, instead of the spine. And they have a lot more books than my regular bookstore, which isn't all that small. I have no idea if they are in fact the biggest bookstore in the world, which has been debated many times, but they sure are big! The store spans the major part of a city block, and they have 3 floors. It gives you an idea… One could go berserk in this place…
