I was looking at the suggested reading list and I noticed that Fiona suggested The Wheel of Time but only the first three books. , Why only the first three? , (I guess this is really a question for Fiona but if anyone knows can you tell me).

Oh well, you're right it's a pretty personal take. But I was so intensely captivated by books 1 and 2, I was sort of hoping for an ending by 3 and only realised too late there was a 4th (this was one of the earliest fantasy tales I'd read as an adult) and book 4 bored me senseless. Is that when he's roaming through desert/wasteland? I've lost track and I stopped reading the series by the end of it. I began to lose all sense of caring for Rand. And that's a shame because this was a powerful story that had a huge effect on me until I felt it was taking advantage by being so long - at times tedious for me, with huge passages that didn't take the story forward (for me) and personally felt rather indulgent. I always recommend the first three books because I still reckon it's one of the best stories ever written but I personally would rather it had ended many books ago. F

Actually, it was me. I was just wondering if there was a reason for just the first three. It thought it would have been simply because it's too long. I've never read them, though I did buy the frst book. When I got home, I saw that there was another 10 books all bigger and smaller than it, I just thought "Well stuff this," and it's been sitting in my cupboard ever since. I just don't see a point in investing my time into something that will take me forever to read.

I agree - hence, read the first three books. You don't need any more to understand the tale, appreciate its brilliance before you get tired of it never finishing, and to be able to say yes, I know the Jordan series.
