Hello all

Pretty ordinary writing week for me - about 1,000 words (and that's probably a bit generous) - about half of what I should be doing.

Some of my characters have changed species and they're working much better now - although I've got a lot of editing to do later.

Hope your writing week went well.

Hi,

I'm back!

What a couple of weeks I've had! My writing has been abysmal, though I do have good news, I made the half way mark, hurray!

I've been staying at a friend's house as she's been going through a bad spell; her husband was killed in a motor accident last year so she was in court for a week to get the verdict on the other driver who killed him.  He was found guilty, which was great but on the flip side her Mother died on Tuesday last week, heart failure, she'd been on a downward spiral ever since Jason was killed.  It's been pretty full on.

I have to admit though, it has been nice to come back to my writing and escape the real world for a while.  I hate to see friends suffering.

I shall be back to my usual weekly visits from now on, I hope - though probably late, I never seem to get it together on a Tuesday (except today!).  I have yet to read all the comments that everyone has made, I look forward to catching up.

Happy writing everyone.  It's good to be back.

I have to say Clairea, it takes a special person to do what you've been doing. I had a hard enough time dealing with my sister after her dog died. Good on you.

My writing went surprisingly well. Whether that's in spite of the exhaust fumes or because of them is something I suppose I'll find out when it comes time to edit / rewrite. In any case, good or bad, I've somehow crept past the 3/4 mark. Current mood: ambivalence. On the one hand I'm excited. I'm on the home stretch. I know where things are going, everyone's behaving as I'd expect them to and I'm pretty sure I have enough left in my strange little mind to fill the space between Now and End. On the other hand, I'm on the home stretch. It's only a matter of time before I have a complete manuscript which means I'll be one step closer to having to make a leap and do something with it. For me that's terrifying. It's probably yet another crazy-me thing. What's one more though, right?

Hey!
I think I could use a fair dose of those fumes.
Whatever helps right now.
In short: Been slack, sick, my parents came visiting and I'm busy as hell. Not a good combination.
I skirted by someone’s cold just to run smack bang into the German import version my mum was so kind to bring along.
Zat meanz I am currenly caffing, snifflink and kroakink in German wiz ze vorst German cold. ZANKS MUM!
Looks like I'm working my way past it.
All in all, the result is that I have not done much and stuffed myself around by placing the kick-start hurdle in front of me again.
I'll sit down now for a moment and am hoping to get the routine going. The next excuse is just around the corner.
BTW: Lappie vs PC: BOTH! I generally use my work laptop most of the time but when I can, I try to sequester myself away in the study at my PC.
Once my head quietens down (NEVER Happens) I get a lot of stuff done and can be the mean hermit for a while.
The other reason for both is that you can have backups on

·         Laptop;
·         PC;
·         USB;
·         CD/DVD;
·         HDD / External HDD
·         Email (send it to yourself on another account and voila, another backup.)
NERD!

Claire, what a time you've had - it's hard to know what to say or complain about when compared to what your friend is going through. I'm glad you're there for her. I've been writing my crime but in very disciplined fashion. 2000 words per day will get me over the line for deadline and some days it's harder then others because of the complications of both my chaps going through Year 12. Just a huge workload to help them manage and keep them focused on, whilst not dropping the ball on my own work. So I began on Feb 18 and I'm now nearly 16,000 words in so it's slow and steady ... and no idea what it's about! Halfway mark!!!!!! Well done you! Keep pushing....you too Inkwell. No excuses. Fx

Hi Everyone, (me late again, maybe if I think of doing it on Monday I might get it right for Tuesday)

Clairea your a gem friends like you are precious.

 My writing week has been haywire to say the least. It will teach me for thinking getting closer to being done and then comes the hard part. I think panic really set in (actually, no think about it I know) and then came a bad dose of doubt, which led to changing the ending, which led to having to change bits and pieces through out the whole thing. So once I made a total mess of chapters here and there, on came that nagging feeling of do I have too many characters, maybe there isn't enough going on to make it interesting or then again maybe it is too much to keep track off. So by Saturday, I was starting to think quick call for the straight jacket, but instead opted to pack the laptop away and try to get my head facing the right direction before I look at it again.  So now I've decided thank god I have my backup that hasn't got all the crazy changes and Saturday I'm just going to ignore what happened this week and get back on track. (Marelle, maybe you can send a few of the fumes my way, couldn't hurt and if it did, yeah I'd have an excuse for being so loopy.)
