Well, I've managed a bit over 1,000 words this week.  Not as much as I'd like, but probably more than I would have expected given that I'M GETTING MARRIED ON SATURDAY!!!

NAAAAAARRRRGH!!!

Ok - deep breathing, deep breathing...

No, this is not an April Fool's Day prank - it's the real deal.

Actually, I think it's mostly organised now and I can relax - I just wish I could convince my brain of that little fact and get it to stop working overtime.

Hope your week's been a little less hectic and stressful than mine.

There's not really much for me to report. Project 2 is flowing along quite smoothly. It's  easier to sit down for my writing time every day and when I do I spend less time navel-gazing. I guess I learned more than I realised from the first one. With that, I still haven't looked at much in the way of editing. I have followed some helpful advice from Inkwell and stuck it all together to just read it. Cringe factor 10! I know I have to fix it, but it's so overwhelming. I'm trying to look on the bright side though. At least I'm the only one seeing the poor thing.

Congratulations Merryd. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Merryd! Congratulations. Have the most wonderful day - remember to enjoy every minute of it. Too many brides are so stressed they forget to have fun. I'm in the middle of my new crime and for me it's always a real milestone to break through the "less than 100,000 words to go" barrier. These are mind games I play with myself. Now I've dropped below 90K. Wonderful feeling. I am taking it all at a much slower pace, only demanding 6500 words or so every working week. However, in between the writing, I'm editing Valisar and editing Whisperer and researching a new novel so there's always plenty to do.

Congratulations Meryd, I hope you have a fantastic day and they go on forever.

Well I feel like I am getting nowhere fast I did the old re-write thing and thought yeah finally I'm going to print this off and read it from start to finish to make sure it flows the way I thought it did.  I started by thinking I'm not even going to have a pen handy, that lasted for 10 seconds and now I just keep going over and over the same things again. Then to really rub the torture in I couldn't believe I made a most obvious foo-pah, I had descriptions and characteristic for all my characters except for the main one. I just couldn't believe I missed it, I can picture her so clearly in my head only problem was I didn't bother writing it in any where, now I'm worried about what else I'll find (or not find). Maybe I might follow in your footsteps Marelle and start on the next one. Putting this one aside for a bit might make it easier to go back to.

Congratulations Merryd!
All the best with the newfound ball and chain. :)
I hope you keep in mind that you should not feel obliged to play hostess all the time.
Hand that to mum, dad and the rest and have a ball. This is supposed to be the greatest day of your life, not the busiest.
If in a situation where you feel the need to facilitate, take a breath and a shot of something stong and grab the other half for whatever...

I did only 1700 last week and am still about 90something away.
But at least I managed that while my parents were still around.
Now I have to go off and make my main character firmly lodge his foot in his mouth.

Ta-taaa...

Thanks everyone for all your best wishes.

I'm sure the day itself will be wonderful ... it's the lead up that's a bit stressful.  But, I've booked myself into a day spa tomorrow, so relaxation and full-on pampering - here I come!

My brother came from the UK and unfortunately went through Terminal 5 at Heathrow (which, incidentally is where his baggage still is and will probably remain until his return trip).  He seems to have been one of the lucky ones, being delayed by only 24 hours.

Have a trick for that one Merryd.
On the return trip he should fake an injury and request a wheelchair.
My other half's broken leg got us through Heathrow in no time flat. Low level flight wheelchair propelled by tiny Irish lady. GREAT!

Congrats on getting Merryd, Merryd.

Over the last 2 days I've been able to hammer out 1,267 words...not doing any writing on the 31st as it was my birthday and so I rested.  Tonight my count was next to nil as I was going through a questionable period regarding the opening of the book.  That's been discussed and seems to be more settled in my mind now.  Beyond that, most of what I did was some character backstory outlining and some naming of the various branches/ranks of magic.  It also allowed me to plot out some key action points to come in the next half of the book.  So I'm over 100,000 now and I'd say I'm about half way there.

It's been a slog, to be sure, but I'm enjoying it more every day.

Inky, after tramping all over Adelaide shopping to replace his lost baggage - he's probably not going to have to fake his injury.

Thanks, Nmdplm ... I think ...
