I have only just found, and read in about 4 days, The Quickening, and I absolutely loved it!
With out a doubt Fiona, you are by far and away the best fantasy writer I have read in a long time.
I am now jumping up and down at the library counter demanding more of your books be brought in.
And as an aspiring writer myself, I can only hope I am half as good as you, and I, from now on, draw inspiration from you and your writing.
The story itself is well written and engaging, I got caught up with Wyl with out a doubt, but more than that, was your descriptive passages, when Myrren was tortured for example, no other fantasy writer that I'm aware of is so vivid, and morbid as it sounds, I loved that, you dared to push the boundaries.
Feist used to the standard I held myself to, no more.

i hope so i hate reading a book and then waiting a year or more for part 2, or more in the case of ice and fire. i like to read the books as one you don't miss parts of the story or have to flick back and forth .and i read lots of books i am lost if i don't have anything to read, i take 2 books on holidays or trips, last book was 'all the pretty horses. i read history, fact ,fiction s/f fantsy any thing. and i collect dead things fossils that is where the name comes from. and i live in the 'kings wood in Ireland not far from dublin.
thanks again for the great time in your books
tony

hi Fiona
I'm really looking forward to Italy in June. the area in dublin were i live is a 12th cent name i have found stone age axe head there is a bronze age burial site ,and a iron age 3 ring fort a mote and bally from the 12th cent ,a castle from the 13th and a fortified house built in 1622, and on top of the cist (burial mound is a Foley (built in 1720). all this in a few 100 yards .any way coming to the end of 2 book cried when his sister stab him did not see that coming.
ammonite, I've edited your post so that people who haven't yet read the books don't miss any of the twists or suprises. Don't be concerned, posters do this all the time.
