Morning all!

I managed a reasonable word count this week of 1500 despite not getting up early in the morning as I promised to do!  Must have been something about the threat of getting up that early...

I'm in a nice part of the story with my main character finally finding a gift of sorts.

Hope you all had a productive writing week.

Merryd; despite your busy week its good to see you found the time to write.

My week picked up and I had less time at the computer. All have done is hand written drafts while I was in waiting rooms. I can't wait to write more of my story, I'm dying to know what my characters are going to get up to in sitiuations that I've pictured and played out in mind. I'm writing battles which I find harder to do. I can picture them, its just finding the right words for the actions that slows me down...Cheers Ebony.

Hello everybody, as a fantasy fan and a new member of about an hour or so,  I started reading Fiona's trilology "The Quickening" last week and I'm about to start book 3 tonight. As a fantasy lover, I rate these books very highly and am thoroughly enjoying them. Consequently, I took a peek online to find out more and discovered you all. Am I too old to write as a widow of 71 years with a heart and mind of a 30 year old. (Well, maybe 40, Lol)?  It is a dream of mine to do this but have never had the confidence. Up to now, it has been lots of poetry and short articles, but have never attempted to have anything published. It would be more than enough just to find I could  write an actual novel. I would be glad to have any thoughts from your kind selves.

Wow, we're early this week. First off, welcome Dreamlover. My kind self is of the opinion if you're young enough (at heart or otherwise) to want to write you're young enough to do it. Have a go! To be honest that's all I set out to do. I understand confidence issues (as everyone close to me will attest) but seriously, what you do with it once you're done is up to you. My two cents. Also, well done Merryd. I know you'd been wondering about your character's gift so I'm glad you found one.

Uh, my writing. Let's see. I'm plowing through my edit with a slow-and-steady approach. I'm starting to worry that I might be blowing my word count a little too high in spite of all the chapters I dumped. I've got a plan B there but hopefully it won't come to that. I've also been tentatively working on #2 again. The idea has come together a little better during my break from it. It's a nice escape for when I feel my skull giving way under the sheer weight of my concentration while I'm editing.

Good luck for the coming week all.

Hello Dreamlover Welcome to the board and welcome especially to the writing crew. This is a very supportive environment and you should feel completely at home and relaxed among this wonderful gang. Now I totally agree with Ebonyswanne. You've got the edge on us....because you've got some years under your belt to draw on. Me too, I'm no spring chicken but you've got a couple of decades on me and that puts you into a very powerful position. Think very positively and don't hesitate. Use the advantage you have and draw on that wonderful life of experiences and imbue your characters and your world with all that knowledge. We're all going to enjoy hearing your progress and you can always come here for a regular chat to keep you motivated and to appreciate that we all suffer the same little issues whether it's finding time to wondering about character impact. We all drop in every Tuesday so feel free to consider yourself a regular member, not only of the bulletin board but also the Writers Forum. Now thank you very much for reading and enjoying The Quickening. I hope Bridge of Souls delivers a satisfying finish for you. Let me know! My week has been super busy with visitors, Year 12s back to school, finding that early morning routine again and trying to juggle the daily word count. It's all good. I have just under 45,000 words to write to finish the crime and then I'll be moving onto the edit of The Whisperer for younger readers and then straight onto Valisar volume 2. Everyone seems to have had a productive, happy week. Well done, all. All power to you.... Fx
