Hi all. New to this so sorry if I'm stating the obvious or asking questions already covered. I've just finished the Trinity trilogy, having already read the Quickening series. I loved all of the books, but the most exciting moment for me in any of the books was when the King of Briavel was listed as a guest at Gyl's coronation in Destiny. I had to re-read that line over and over to check I wasn't dreaming! I was so disappointed when nothing came of what I thought was going to be a crossover between the trilogies. Do the characters from Morgravia and Briavel share a storyline with those from Tallinor and Cipres in other books? I'll be reading them anyway, but am a bit bemused as to why Briavel was mentioned in Destiny when nothing came of it? Am thinking of re-reading the Quickening to hunt for references to Tallinor... can anyone help?

Hello there You know it always makes me smile when readers get excited to see a mention of a previous kingdom or character. And it's why I do it i.e. for the simple reason of bringing a little hit of pleasure or a tiny thrill to those readers for whom this sort of reference means something. I understand why you enjoy it and I like doing that for you but rarely does it lead anywhere in terms of the story. I never have the intention of making the stories blend and to be honest I never even know if I'm going to make mention of a former world - it just happens and I like it when it does. You'll find in Percheron a reference (er, I think, correct me if I'm wrong anyone) and you'll definitely find a mention in Valisar to another place that has gone before in another series. I think subconsciously that the other reason I do this is to place the landscape and the feel of the world very firmly in readers' minds. I'm sure all my readers have noticed that I don't work terribly hard at world-building - I make you lot do all the work and I just give you some prompts and some instantly recognisable geography and you do the rest with your fabulous imaginations. If I mention a realm that you already know then I tend to believe that you'll build the world we're in much faster because you understand the landscape already. Usually I keep them far enough away though, either in nautical miles or in era so that you don't assume that I'll necessarily cross one story into another. I doubt that will ever happen but never say never.... Thanks for enjoying the stories, K. F

Thanks so much for the reply. I understand what you mean about using such references to build a more complete and clearer picture of the world you've created, but now that you've planted the seed, it's hard to give up on the hope that there may, someday, be a more detailed crossover... Maybe? Oneday?? Please???  Thanks again, K.

*imagines a crossover with Lazar and Wyl*

OH. MY. GODDESS.

That would be insane. Someone should write a fanfic. Or something. That'd be INSANE. How awesome would that be? Haha, I'm getting all excited. And Cloot and Pez and Saxon and Salmeo and Alyssandra and, and, and EVERYONE.

This is very very amusing. I can't believe how exciting that would be. Fi, you should totally write it. You know that I would probably buy about four copies - one for me and three to give to other people as presents. So at least four of them would sell! Imagine the story that would bring them all together. Totally epic.

And all the characters that were killed in all the trilogies would all be alive because everyone knows that in fanfics that the dead characters aren't really dead anymore. Although I suppose that's no technically true. But in fanfics you can always find a loophole. In writing you can always find a loophole for dead characters. Just use your imagination!

:P

And yes, there is a reference in Percheron. Somewhere. I remember the little thrill of glee I got when I read it. :P
