If you haven't already - please take time to see this movie. It's available on DVD but probably still showing at some of the arthouse places. This is a towering piece of film. I won't call it entertainment because it's quite a harrowing journey and yet the story, so powerful and gutting at times, will uplift you and make you believe in the human spirit and the goodness of people. That's what I took away anyway. I tried not to dwell on the 'badness' of some or how corrupting power can be. It's filmed honestly and is beautiful from the opening credits to the last, memorable line. Have a hanky nearby. Fx

I agree, Fiona....The Kite Runner is a powerful movie.  Makes you glad, but almost a little ashamed at the good lives we lead in countries not bedeviled by war and it's accompanying turmoil.

One of my sons is doing the novel for his Year 12 English assignment. Now I can't wait to read the book! I'll probably need a box of tissues nearby rather than just a hanky.
