Grabbed this DVD under pressure last night. I had a few just moments to get something for my sons who wanted something a bit horror-like but not the usual teenage fodder.
I ended up watching it with them because I'd actually grabbed something a bit more sci-fi. It's based on a novella by Stephen King. I didn't expect much from it - not a name anywhere on the jacket that I knew, other than King's and ont a fllm I recall making it to the big screen or if it idid, it hadn't registered so couldn't be a hit. I watched it simply because Friday night is our night off from study, work, everything. We stick close as a family and feast, sloth and watch the stuff we've recorded through the week that we hate to miss, like Boston Legal or Gordon Ramsay.
Anyway, this movie will suck you in. It's creepy and it has absolutely the most unexpected and horrific end you can imagine. it left us all a bit stunned to tell the truth. They NEVER do endings like that normally.
Take a look.
And if you really want to be freaked out, don't miss No Country For Old Men. Now there's a film to chill you to the core - especially because the monster is a man. I definitely wasn't prepared for this one. It's brilliant, very shocking, and you will want to hide your eyes at times. Available on DVD right now. It's not a horror by the way. It's a thriller but absolutely terrifying.

Well written, directed and acted movie, but a bit on the violent side for me. I'm also a believer in justice and didn't see that here. Now if gangrene sets in; that's justice. Can't really say more without spoiling the movie for future viewers. If you've seen it, you'll understand.

My previous comments apply to No Country for Old Men. Haven't seen The Mist yet.
