The Quickening Trilogy is extraordinarily good.  My daughters Boyfriend’s mum gave me a copy of the first book Myrrens gift, I had never heard of Fiona before and had not really been into reading Sci Fi Fantasy that is until now.   I spend approximately 90 minutes a day travelling too and from work, and enjoy the quiet time to read.  Myrrens gift was a total surprise.

I finished reading Myrrens on the bus on the way to work on a Friday morning and wanted to continue with the story for the trip home and over the weekend,  I spent my lunch break running around all the book shops in or near Rundle Mall looking for Blood and Memory panicking that I wouldn’t be able to continue this Fantastic and cleverly woven legend style work of fiction.  I wished I had gone to Dymocks  first because they stock all of Fiona’s books.

I finished Bridge of Souls last Friday night  and now feel a sense of loss  knowing I can no longer continue the adventure of Wyl Thirsk.
Thank you Fiona for the wonderful story of Wyl Thirsk, I look forward to treating myself to some more amazing Sci Fi Fantasy from Fiona McIntosh

Oh, you're welcome, Jen. I am a bit of a sentimental fan of The Quickening and especially Myrren's Gift. It's the book I let loose on and really found my 'groove' for this sort of writing. Thank you so much for enjoying it and I hope you didn't squeal at that particular part of Blood and Memory that seems to take people by surprise. My editor in London said he made a rather brief but loud yell on a very quiet commuter train very early one morning travelling into the city! Anyway, I'm thrilled you devoured the books and that they've given you a new interest in reading fantasy. Try some others - you may well enjoy Percheron. Odalisque is book 1 but we can all give you a swag of other good writers to try as well. Happy reading and welcome to the board. F

Thanks for the reply Fiona, I think it is fabulous that you answer your readers posts.  I had been wondering which books  to read next then I read the posts between you and Mike H regarding Trinity, not only was I amused by the banter between you both,  I have decided that I would like to continue along same path and order in which they were written even though I read the second series first and will be reading the first series second does that make sense? Not everyone speaks Jen

I will look forward to reading the Percheron Series in the very near future.

By the way, I too was born in England,  Ramsgate Kent, I moved to South Australia when I was just 8 years old,  I love Australia, but still feel  drawn towards England, I guess it’s in my blood, it’s not that I will ever live there, but I do yearn to visit again.

Thanks again Fiona

Regards

Jen

Then dare I suggest you try that new crime writer, Lauren Crow. She was born in Brighton, Sussex and her debut novel is uses the famous West Pier of Hove as a key setting. In fact the whole book is mainly based around London and Brighton. I know her well...er, like she's a part of me . And enjoy Trinity. It's a big romp of a tale. Let me know how you get on. All best, Jen. Nice to have you among us. F
