Hi All Dropping by early. Lots to get through today. Approx 109,000 words to go on volume 2 and I'm now juggling the re-write of my new crime novel due out in April. So the way I'm handling this is to shorten my word count and make sure I get it done by 2pm each day and then I swap across into re-write/editing mode and try and rip through three chapters of the crime. It's a bit schizophrenic but this is the life of an author. Even if you don't swap genres, you will find yourself working on two manuscripts at once at some stage because editing always overlaps the writing of the next book. Hope everyone's had a productive week. Who will finish their manuscripts this year? F

At the risk of getting in trouble with our generous but growly patroness again, whether or not I'll be finished depends on your definition of finished. No, if all goes according to plan, I may have the next pass of #1 over with by Christmas. #2 is still on target for mid-September, so that gives me plenty of time even with that being my busy end of the year. I've also made a decision -- next pass is the last one before it goes out to readers. *gulp* Fiona, I don't know how you do all of that -- I look at all of the things you do and think, wow if that was me my head would explode. I can't speak for everyone else but the reason why sometimes I overlook you on the weekly well-dones is because I'm a little scared of a) how much you do and b) how you do all of that and produce great stuff. Anything I might say just sounds a little trite when I hear it. You know. In my head. So, uh, yeah. Awesome work!

I don't really have much to report. As I mentioned, #2 is moving along according to plan. Well, I say plan but I suppose schedule is more accurate. I haven't the knack for planning things ahead of time. I've had my first suprise though. When I first got the idea I thought it was about one person and it turns out it's actually about someone else entirely and the first person was just the catalyst. But I can live with that. I also feel I've learned from many of the mistakes I made with #1 and hopefully won't require so many edits this time.

Anyway, hope everyone's had a great week.

Hi Everyone, hope all is well, especially down in those cold places (mind you it was a jumper and jacket day even up here)

Well had another good week this week and I am hoping that I will definitely have my MS finished this year so it can be sent out into the great unknown and see how it goes. (mind you I hope I can get through #2 quicker because the first one has taken over two years and still needs that last few finishing touches or should I say the excuses not to take the next step. However, I have set my self a deadline of sending it off in August so if it comes September and I'm still saying the same thing please feel free to remind me, so I quit chickening out.

I agree with Marelle, Fiona I don't know how you do it, having my youngest in Year 12 is enough on it's own, then I add work and I'm struggling to get the word count up. Then you hear what you are up to and I think oh my god how does she do it but it is also a fantastic motivator so thanks heaps.

Hi all

Well, sorry to ruin everyone's good week run... but I've done squat this week.  Truly appalling week at work with tears and all.

Manuscript is scheduled for next year.

Mdx

PS  I don't know how Fiona does it, either.  Quantity + quality!  Admirable stuff.

Ooh forgive me gang, I never ever set out to overwhelm you. I keep hoping that by me lurking here and gee-ing you all along that you'll feel motivated but never overwhelmed by what I do. I am a bit of an overachiever at times and I do tend to believe that everyone is moving at the same pace as I am, which is fast. Luckily I married someone who is my polar opposite. He is so laid back and slow he is near comatose. And he refuses to go at a different speed - so he keeps me balanced. However, I do write quickly plus I really don't fit the mould of the tortured writer, bleeding over every paragraph. I just get on with it and for most projects I usually don't actually read anything I've written until I've finished the first draft. Then I sit down and start reading through the 150,000 words but rarely before then. It helps me to push through the work much quicker and means I can juggle a few manuscripts at one time. But Year 12. Oh dear. And with twins it's just daunting but I did a count up. Nine weeks to go and then we're into exams and it's over. Hooray. Have a good week everyone. F

Hi everyone,

I'm on time for once...can you believe it!

Well done everyone on your progress, and Merryd don't sweat the small stuff.  I'm sure you'll get your manuscript finished and it will be absolutely brilliant!  And to Fiona, my inspiration!  I can only dream of being as productive as you! I take my hat off to you. (I don't mention this enough I know, but I'm in complete awe, what more can I say?)

Guess what...no I haven't found a publisher yet, but as I said in my last post I had sent my ms off... and I received my postcard today saying they had received it! I know it's only small but I couldn't help but feel a bit excited.  Someone in Omnibus Books has opened the envelope containing my manuscript and posted off my card!  Now they just have to read it, love it to bits and want to publish it.  Not too much to ask, is it?!

Have started ms 2, not great leaps as it's tax time and I'm helping my Dad with his tax receipts ( a large plastic bag stuffed to the brim!) and seeing my accountant.  After that it's full steam ahead.

Happy writing all.

love Claire x

I had a very busy week last week, not much time to post...I hope everyone is doing great.

At the moment I'm just focusing on writing it. Since I started it late it's unlikely that I"ll have it finished by Christmas. Still, I'll keep writing it anyway....I've finished a short story, just to read to my daughter, and thats about it at the moment.

Cheers Ebony.
