Hi Fiona,
I have been an avid fan of fantasy since discovering David Eddings' The Belgariad when at Uni - twenty years ago.
However I agree that you can't follow one epic series with another, and frequently alternate between a good crime read (James Patterson, Sandra Brown, Mary Higgins Clark), historical romance (LaVyrle Spencer or Sandra Brown), then back to lose my self in another world created by another awesome fantasy writer.
I only discovered your work early this year (Trinity) and was completely drawn in by your characters and their suffering and triumph. I have just finished the Quickening this week, and loved it. Must admit, I had a laugh at the scene where Cailech and Aremys are touring the vineyard and he details the process of detecting pests and disease through the plants at the end of each row. How very south australian of you! We have a lot of vineyards on the Mornington Peninsula (where I live) and learned many years ago why they all had such lovely rose gardens.
Looking forward to reading Percheron after a short break, keep up the great writing and please let me know if you are ever in Melbourne for a workshop as you sound like one of the most approachable writers I have ever read.

Hello Aynze
I needed a diversion from a hard morning of writing on King's Wrath - well grinding actually because today has been difficult with tradesmen at the house and the sound of nail guns and drills shattering my normal peace. Anyway, great to hear from you and thank you for discovering my work and especially for enjoying it. Yes, one's own experiences can't help but creep in and I couldn't write about vineyards and not let a few pearls sneak in. I have to smile at the notion that I can cater to your diverse reading choices. I write crime - look out for Bye Bye Baby and Beautiful Death (Scotland Yard based Britcrime) and I write romantic fiction I suppose, which is the huge historical saga I've just completed for Penguin that is being released next year. It's called Fields of Gold and will be published in March. We're all very excited about it.
But right now I have a fantasy trilogy to finish, which I guess you'll find your way too sometime after you've read Percheron.
Thank you again for dropping by and for reading my work. Yes, I will publish details of any workshops in VIC but I know next year is going to be hellishly busy and overseas a great deal, and so I may not be in a position to accept any invitations other than to attend festivals or the big fantasy convention in Melbourne that I hope everyone is going to - Worldcon in August.
I'm sure our paths will cross, though. I get to Melbourne regularly and will definitely be touring in VIC next year, in April.
All best and happy reading. F
