I'm surprised no-one started a thread on this movie.  It's actually called Twilight Saga: New Moon and it racked up over 140 million dollars in it's opening 3 day weekend!  That's twice what Twilight earned last year in it's debut and it's one and two day totals broke all opening records.

I actually saw this movie at an 11:55 AM Sunday morning screening.  Not great, but better than the first movie.  Not being a teen-age girl, I can't relate to the angst that permeates the show, and I think Kristin Stewart is a much better actress than she's allowed to be in this release.  She mumbles a lot and sighs a lot for reasons all who have read the book understand.  If you fit into the target demographic, I guess it's a must-see; otherwise, I give it 2 stars out of four.

Hi Phil

My 11 yo daughter (an avid reader) is dying to see this film and I haven't read the books so don't really know what it's about.  However, I did read an article by Sara Douglass commenting on the character of Bella being a stereotypical heroine who always needs rescuing.  This disturbed me a little and when I asked my daughter what was so good about Bella, she really couldnt give me an answer.  I guess it's just a book / movie, but it has made me think about what other books / movies or female role models she is exposed to.

I guess she'll get to see it, but I'd far rather watch something else.

Movies - I love watching movies of all genres, but would rather read fantasy, it never seems to translate well into film.
