I had nicknames once long ago but few remember them; Now I answer to Derek or occasionally Old Git (from my youngest daughter who I've spoilt to much and I didn't reckon on her inheriting my sense of Humour) Age 65 think I'm 25 and probably look 95! Profession; Electronic Engineer; though I'm supposed to be retired now, I still fix the occasional system for old customers Appearance; The thatch is silver, most everything else is Wrinkly but I hope the eyes still twinkle. Three Children; Many years spent as a single parent as I divorced 26 years ago when my youngest was two (and she still at home!) Music; Mostly Pre 1963, I'm just an old romantic; Can't stand most of the modern noise though I don't mind watching Girls Aloud. (You can guess my daughter's opinion on that!) Philosophy; I'm a lifelong environmentalist and conservationist; I've never owned any oil or petrol driven machine, abhor all herbicides and pesticides. etc. etc. Hobbies; Natural History, Photography (Mainly insects!), Rambling; Reading of course and of course my Local for regular card games and quiz matches. Used to enjoy Chess but found a lot of opponents declined after a few games and I could never fancy joining a club. What keeps me sane; My dogs!

I'm Flute.

... okay I guess that's not quite enough. Let's try this again. I'm 41, live in Paris, France, and play flute in a symphonic orchestra and several Jazz Bands (thus the username).

I do have a fulltime office job (lots of translations from and to german), but that one is just not interesting enough to talk about.

I am the proud mother of two incredibly smart and beautiful children aged 13 and 17. But hey, every mother says that HERS are the best kids of the world, right? So you don't have to believe me ;)

In my spare time I play (and hear) music a lot, I'm a bookaholic (mostly fantasy, but I did have a sci-fi time and still read the odd thriller, you name it, I've read it. Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Tolkien, Maarten 't Hart (his "Das Wueten der ganzen Welt" is a must read for all JS Bach lovers), Raymond E. Feist, Susan Cooper, Ray Bradbury, Jim Butcher (The Dresden Files rock), Wen Spencer, J. Evanovich, Douglas Adams, MZB, JK Rowling, Flatlanders/Spherelanders, the old Anne Rice books before she left the realm of good fiction for porn-over-plot, Fiona McIntosh, Alan Dean Foster...I could go on for hours like that. Baudelaire, William Blake, H. Hesse, Nietzsche, Rilke, Kipling... anything weird, funny and or philosphical goes. I love Poetry. I write Poetry. And I have a very blonde soft-spot for reading vampire romance stuff in the bathtub (I don't expect these books to be great literature, or to have a smart plot. I do expect them to be sexy. It's fast food for the glands, just like chocolate).

As for music, I love JS Bach, Mozart, Igor Strawinski, Debussy, E. Grieg, Bela Bartok, Dvorak, Schumann, Haendel, Bizet, Grieg, Hndel, Charlie Parker, Astor Piazolla, Antonio Serrano, the best Kletzmer, the Melos Quartet, Benjamin Britten, Vivaldi, Charlie Parker, Thelonius Monk, Ray Charles, Sarah Mc Lochlann, good Irish Folk Music (Joannie Madden rocks), Pink Floyd, Queen, some of Police, Kansas, Anastasia, Coldplay... just to name a few.

Movies: Movies: LOTR, City of lost Children, Dark City, Constantine, Amelie Poulain, City of Angels (both the old Wim Wenders version and the recent one), The Wicker Man (actually most old Christopher Lee flics and Vampire movies) and good Sci-Fi stuff in general...(even Starwars. Yes. Even Starwars!), good anime like "Spirited Away". Anything with Harrisson Ford, Bruce Willis, Jean Reno, Robert de Niro, Robin Williams, Vin Diesel or Jeff Goldblum in it. Anything by Tim Burton, Polanski, Luc Besson...

For more info (or if you want to hear me playing flute), just check my page here: http://www.myspace.com/magicflute22001

If you can read this you have too much time on hand and just waded through the self-description of a total stranger.

Nickname: Mikki everyone except the skool agrees with me on that one. Sometimes i'm Mikki Moo though and other times just Moo

Real name: Michelle

In a breif summary of me I'm 17 and live in NSW but was born in Victoria and love people knowing that fact. I'm currently doing my HSC with a random assortment of subjects that don't really link into each other mainly because i'm still confused about what direction I want to head. I love reading always have thanx to my Dad who always read to me when i was younger, I still remember him reading the hobbit to me about 5 times in all. I love music although i'm not any good at creating my own I just apreciate good work by others. I love basketball and i play in a small comp with only 4 teams but that suits me well since i'm not really all that good at it. I got into Anime a few years ago and saw the value behind some of the more complex series such as Ghost in the Shell and Evangelon. I'm really bad at spelling in case you hadn't noticed which is irronic since i'm doing extention 1 english.

The first book of Fiona's i read was Myrian's Gift and that was about 3 years ago. I thurally enjoyed it and ended up reading the rest of The Quickening and then the Trinity Trilogy. I just had to have Odalisque when i saw it was coming out and again i had to have Emissary. All great books.

Loves: Reading, Basketball, most Anime, its like all things parts of it are great but others are not. I mostly love the anime that ends up having a message about society and life, the complex stuff.

Reads: Most fantasy and Si fi fantasy - basically anything that i take an instant likeing to in regards to title or cover art - I know you should never judge a book by its cover but i do anyway.

Fav movies: Coach Carter, Space Jam, Event Horizon, both Ghost in the shell movies, Reign of fire, Starship troupers really random assortment i know

Music: Lots of random things Sugarcult is my favorite band by far but I also enjoy Linkin Park, Nightmare of you, Unwritten law, The postal service, The butterfly effect, 10 years, 30 seconds to mars, The all-american rejects, Blindside, Blink-182, Fall out boy, Hello Kelly, Kisschasey, Panic! at the disco, Sick puppies, Stabbing westward.
