I have totally enjoyed this book from the start. There are some great heart wrenching scenes in the book that you wrote so well. It's easy to read which is great since i'm not that good a reader.

I can't wait for book 2 which comes out when???

Anyway I really enjoyed the book Fiona. :clap2

Hi all I'm a newbie here and a newbie to Fiona McIntosh's books. I must say however that this book is immensely enjoyable and totally rocks! The pacing, drama and characterisations are all top notch. I picked it up, along with about 5 other books, on my recent trip back home. I live in Tokyo you see and you don't even want to know how terribly difficult it is to pick up fantasy books over here.

Anyway I read this book in no time flat and am now eagerly awaiting the next book(s). I am, however, a wee bit cranky as I won't be able to buy them until I come home again, which at the moment is looking like early next year.

Thank you Fiona for writing a fantabulous book and for allowing me to add another author to my must read list. Okay I'm gushing now I guess I'd better stop.

Well, what I do is teach *cough*entertain*cough* Japanese people "conversational" english. After being here for 5 years I've become rather cynical about the whole teaching experience though. Even though it's not mentally difficult work, the fact that you have to be "on" all the freakin' time can be exhausting. Plus there are major cultural and intellectual differences.

The good thing about it, other than the money *g*, is the added appreciation I have for home. You really don't know what you're missing until you go and live in a country where you will always be "the foreigner". Not that I'm complaining really, it means that you get cut a lot of slack. But still if I wasn't on a huge savings kick I would have been home a year ago.

Thank you Angelique... what an amazing compliment! I hope I'm always an "I hate you author" (grin). It wasn't easy writing the first series when the boys were little and always interrupting but you always get there don't you and who'd be without our sons and daughters? Don't worry, Wyl's woes will be waiting for you whenever you get to the book and be assured, they get much, much worse!

Mwooohahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Arkady - stick at it and save up then come home rich and buy lots of books. You're so right - you only miss the wonderfulness of home when it's taken away from you. Anyway, we're always here if you want to stay in touch. F

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

All kids in care today- did food shopping-bought some brie and crackers- boiled the jug and didnt stop till I finished it <img src=">

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO :thanx :clap2 :kiss

Cant wait for next 2 books- will have to fight Terame for who reads it first <img src="> Will have to think of something so i can have it first <img src="> My birthdays in August- maybe I can use that?? <img src=">

I am just a mere reader- but my only "complaint" was when you said twice regarding Fynch " but he was already too late" Makes you know something we are not necessarily gonna like is coming <img src=">

Plenty you don't like coming at you in Blood and Memory and Bridge of Souls!....but don't tell Hellilac or I'll get into trouble again for allowing characters to do things they shouldn't (grin). And that's the truth of it. I don't sit here scratching my chin and thinking now what can I do next to Wyl or Fynch. It really does just happen. I let them go and they do a fantastic job of getting themselves into all sorts of bother. I'm glad you finished it....was it a fun surprise at the end for you?

*waves* G'Day everyone. Well, I must say, I'm in love with Wyl. I'm at Chapter Thirty and I've only stopped to stretch my legs from being cramped in the same place for so long.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to get comfortable when you can't drag yourself away from a book like this one??

I'm a first-time reader of any of Fiona's books. I abolish any misgivings I had thought when I picked it up in Dymocks. The cover caught my eye, so I flicked it over read the blurb. Still wasn't sure, so I read the first page.

Caught me. Beautiful opening. I carefully looked at the price then put it back on the shelf, somewhat doubtful. I lingered by Traci Harding then wandered toward Philip Pullman. I decided to give it a go. Glad I did. Tis a marvellous book. I wish I could write as well as that. I have half a plot...I just need to get some actual structure into it.

I'm 15 and I have to say that using the refund voucher for 'Barry Trotter' to buy 'Myrren's Gift' was possibly one of the best choices I ever made.

Thank'ee for a terrific book and I canNOT wait for the second and third installments.

Was it this thread that someone mentioned Viggo Mortenson (Aragorn) as Romen? I was thinking about that today...who I could see playing the characters. David Wenham for Wyl/Fergys; Heath Ledger/Orlando Bloom for Romen.

And one last thing...that was so mean. Alyd was awesome. I was half-listening to my sister talk when I read...it...and I almost burst into tears in the middle of her conversation. When Fynch finds out about Celimus' plan to assassinate Wyl I leapt up and stormed about the house, shrieking about how much I hated him and how immoral it was and my sister was following me having absolutely NO idea what I was talking about. Looking back it was rather funny.

So when are you coming into Melbourne for book-signings??
