According to Mr and Mrs Saint - who already have their copy - Myrren's Gift is adorning bookshelves across the nation. I had no idea and will head out tomorrow to stare at it with a sense of satisfaction.

Please, please enjoy. It is about this time that I get so nervous about people reading my work that the fear is like a creature all of its own inside me.

That said, my sincere thanks to all of you in the Heartwood for your ongoing and fantastic support.

Bought the book on Thursday night, started reading on Friday, and finished it this morning. Robin Hobb has it spot on - it is definitely a "just one more chapter" type of book. :yes

Celimus is the sort of villain you love to hate - he is just so despicable! I can't wait to find out what happens to Wyl, Valentyna and company next (although an obvious ending has already come to mind, which of course means that there is no chance that it will end that way!) :think

So Fiona - when is the next book due out? :wink2

I walked into Angus and Robertsons, stormed over to the M section and promptly collapsed into a smiling heap. Yay, congratulations Fiona! Book #4 is out and being loved :gold
... <img src=ad"> but I can't read it for another 6 days... I promised my parents I'd use it for reading material on the flight to Japan. Still, as long as I have Myrren's gift to sustain me, I will go on <img src=">
Again, great job Fiona, I shall be hard pressed not to break my promise now that I've read the first page.

Hooray! And thank you Wrothy and Kylie for enjoying it. Hugely appreciated. Can you hear the sighs of relief, I wonder? It's terrifying when you know people are reading your work!

Forget obvious ending, Wrothy ... it isn't going to happen (grin) ... although it would be fun wouldn't it?

Thanks for buying it and reading it so fast. Bllod and Memory is finished and onto second draft. It will be published June 1.

Bridge of Souls is scheduled for Dec 1, 2004. I will start writing it over Christmas and hope to have it ready for February.

happy reading all - Fx

Hi Ambrai

thanks for the reassuring post. None of you can imagine how nervous I've felt knowing people are out there and reading MG. It is wonderful to know that you've enjoyed it, Ambrai, and I'm really grateful that you shared it too. Fx

p.s. if it's any consolation, book 2's structural edit is complete and I'm about to send it back to HarperCollins. This means we're on the way!

Hi, im new here...
I saw Fiona speak on December 2 (along with Sean Williams, and Tony Shillitoe), and am now the proud owner of a signed copy of Myrrens Gift.

Havent read it yet, but ive started Betrayal though...

(ps, Fiona, remember me? Hint: there were 2 Tom's (in a row, i think), and you said that you thought that one looked a bit like Matt Damon from The Talented Mr. Ripley, well, I'm the other one.)

Hey Bob! Of course I remember you. Lovely that you here amongst us and hope you'll drop by often.
That was a great night and thanks for being such a fun audience and especially thanks for buying the book. I am really grateful and hope you'll not only enjoy Trinity but also Myrren's Gift which is, as I said, a more mature, darker sort of tale.

Say hello to Bob the Grey everyone (great name, makes me laugh). Fx

I was in a Dymocks store recently, where there was a stand set up near the front of the store for the book of Russell Crowe's new movie (Master and Commander), and the interesting thing was that 2/3 of the stand had Myrrens Gift instead! <img src=lider">

Ooh I didn't think it could get better than Feist and McIntosh but Crowe and McIntosh has a lovely ring! I saw Master and Commander last night - fantastic stuff...should be getting a nod from Oscar next April I imagine for director and its leading man.

Ambrai - I love that you're miffed - yes, quite a freaky spot to leave everyone and now there's just five and a half months to go before you can travel further on this dark journey (grin). Thanks for making my day! Fx

Just thought I'd pop by and say a few words...

wow, fabulous, wonderful, inspiring, intriguing, flabberghasting, jaw-dropping, marvellous, astonishing, grand, magical, splendid, gob-smacking and good.

In other words, I'm speechless.

Congrats, Fiona. :clap2

Fiona.....

ahhhh... how to find the right words?

I doubt there is nothing more satisfying in life than to enjoy the sweet anticipation of an event..... finally the time comes when it is yours to relish.... and then the wondrous surprise when it is far better than you could have ever anticipated....

Thank you Fiona..... such wonderful rich, deep characters.... dark and intensely woven tale with a magnificent twist (or two) ...... I loved every moment and read it very slowly, savoring the pace... not wanting it to finish....

Brilliant Fiona... thank you :clap

Heartfelt thanks to all of you for your generosity.

Firstly for buying MG - because I know at this time of year the $$$ are spread so thinly with so many other demands on the purse. I am sincerely grateful for your investment and for helping MG rise so high and quickly on the booklist and for making my publisher so happy. I owe you all for your loyalty.

And of course, thanks for enjoying it. It is a very frightening feeling putting your work out there for public consumption but it is worth every bit of stress to receive such positive and glowing feedback from people I enjoy so much and appreciate their praise more than any.

Your faith is inspiring. Fx
