Hello Fiona and Everyone, :gold

I am a new kid on the block on this bulletin board known as ThePinnacle65 or just TP for short, so please bare with me if I ask a lot of questions or don’t understand things!!! I took the liberty of taking Fiona’s advice and checked out this bulletin board and have read a lot of the past posts of what people have written, so I felt I wanted to share with you my story, and my Honorary meeting with Fiona. Sorry that this may be so long, promise I will keep them shorter in future!!

Well I have just recently got into the wonderful and exciting world of Fantasy books, I would say possibly the last 12 months, give or take either side. How I got into them, well it was due to a very wonderful and special friend, whom absolutely adores reading Fantasy books.

I have read all of Fiona’s books now, and I am absolutely awestruck, they are fantastic. I also had the pleasure of meeting this very wonderful lady. All I can say is, Fiona has this aura about her which drags people into her circle, it was an absolute pleasure to meet her, and I found it very difficult to tear myself away from her, it was almost like I had known Fiona for a very long time (like a friend I have had for a very long time), the very ease of the way we could just talk to one another. A very talented and confident lady. Thank you Fiona for your wonderful books, and keep them coming!! I just can’t wait for Book 2 of The Quickening.

I will explain a little how I feel when I read fantasy books and especially when having read Fiona’s books. When reading the books I call it my “meditation” time. When meditating, you need that clear mind and visualization, well that is what I get with reading these type of books, I actually get absorbed into them, and to the point of actually being there, like I can see the characters for real, but they can’t see me. I must say it is a wonderful experience, (and you probably all think I am a little weird):crazy . Another way of explaining it, is like having a bubble bath or an aromatherapy oil bath you become absorbed and relaxed into it. I have never felt that way about reading books, as I am reading another book at the moment which is not fantasy, it is actually about a Buddhist who is trying to deal with the trials and tribulations and live in a western society, I cannot for some reason get absorbed into this book like I do my fantasy books, so guess what, Fantasy always takes precedence.

So this is my tale, and I would love to hear of any suggestions that anyone may have of certain books to read. I really have to thank that special friend for getting me into this world, but unfortunately I will most likely never get that opportunity to thank this friend personally. Reading these books have been a very special and wonderful medicine for me of late. So at the moment, Fiona is my guide for what books I should try and read, and I am hoping to get some other ideas from any of you!!

Once again, thank you very much Fiona for your wonderful books, and thank you everyone else for reading my tale and hope to chat to some of you soon!!

:bye

TP

:thanx

wow - long and interesting - quite a combination. i am new to this 'posting' thing 2.
fantasy books description can identify with excellent descriptions and analogies. more fantasy you ask? have you read any Terry Goodkind? Fiona suggested a couple of authors to me like sara douglass but couldn't get into her too much detail and not enough pictures ) in my head i mean. Terry goodkinds series of Richard and Kahlan are excellent. The first book is called WIZARDS FIRST RULE and there are about 7 so far - of which i have read 7 so far! in this many books about the one 'world' the most difficult thing for the author would have to be consistency eh? how do they remember all these people? do they just write continuously? it amazes me. fiona's the same how do they do it? thanx for your post, a good read. BTW if you are in adelaide she is going to be at borders at 6pm on monday the 5th of january
