I was just wondering about the pronounciation for some of the names in the Quickening series...I'd log in, but it doesn't work for me for some inconceivable reason.
But I figured most were like the modern counterpart, with y's in them.
Wyl - Will
Valentyna - Valentina
Crys - Chris
Fergys - Fergus
And on it goes. But my friends and I have been wondering about the pronounciation of Celimus and Koreldy and Caliech and such. Just because we call read them as different pronouncations, it would be interesting to get the one that it was intended to sound like.

I admit when I read them first I assumed the Welsh sound for y, so I was reading Wyl as Wuhl in my mind until hearing Fiona talk about her book

But then I grew up with a mad Londoner as a brother-in-law (father figure) and a sister who doused me in tales of Celtic legends ,)

Hi! everyone tends to have their own way of pronouncing things and once said in the mind it's hard to convert but here's how I originally intended it and you were right by the way on those you've mentioned:
Celimus - I say as Cell-lee-moos (but quickly and not too long on the moos so it sound more like the mous in moustache unless of course you say mus-tash and then we have problems!)
Koreldy - I say as Kor-rel-dee
Cailech - I say as Kay-leck
Aremys - I say just like the musketeer
And yet I notice at the publisher they say: Sellymuss, Areemoos etc so everyone has their own way. A friend of mine was calling our hero 'While and couldn't bear it when I told her how I pronounced it! It quite disturbed her.
I'm leaving my 'Y' phase and have moved firmly into my Z zone for the next three books.
Hey, I have a copy of Bridge of Souls! :bananas

I have to say this...
You have a copy of Bridge Of Souls? Well

You may now consider me green ,)
On pronunciations, I love that this tends to be a popular topic on many author sites. It always reminds me of something I either read or saw in an interview from SEAL (the singer/song writer)
He said he would prefer not to publish the lyrics as he loves that a whole group of people will fill in with identical gibberish and it will be correct for them. I'll now have to find the quote!
